So this weekend I wasn't going to touch the golf - I had to service the daily and put new front suspension in it so I wasn't too keen on tinkering with the golf.

            BUT..

I went and picked up this yesterday:

And I had to measure some stuff up to see how I was going to fit it in - which soon lead to this:

Cleaned up the electrics as well - removed this much useless wiring; most of it was for a sound system which doesn't (and most likely won't) exist.

Also mounted the fusebox in the correct location, it was a pain trying to remember where all the wires went no matter which ordering system I used - I think I did alright because everything works still (fingers crossed):

EDCIT: as a point of reference for what this once looked like:

I also tidied up some of the lines and wiring in the engine bay, and whacked a new fuel filter in:

This is an all too common occurance - the electrical gremlins still exist somewhere in this car. Need to sort out a kill-switch:

And the interior all cleaned up and put back together:

I need to sort out a new carpet, I don't like the brown at all. Might just try dye it and see how that goes!

Sweet, that's what I was planning! Any brands that anyone knows of to avoid/go for?

Been ordering loads of goodies lately

Got this in the mail yesterday, should be a good point of reference:

Trialled some spacers today - going to go with 10mm all round and a bit more low added

                Without 10mm:

                With 10mm:

Spacers will only be temporary though - while I sort out some new wheels. I think they will be 14x8 +20s after todays measuring!

Loads of gear on the way from local places and OS, including a complete new brake set up, seat frame, strut tops, front spoiler, new interior w/ new gauges and a whole heap more! just waiting for it all to arrive so I can start driving this thing the way it should be driven!

The place I bought the front lip off sent me a duckbill, not the shallower front lip. Although after mock-fitting it up with zipties i think it could work!

Some progress lately - but back at uni means that less time to compile posts! Got the golf out and about the other day, gave it a clean, and stopped past a meet at carseldine to have a quick look.

Last weekend I installed mk3 rear drums and my bucket seat (i have a handbrake for the first time ever in this car!!!), just waiting on new master cylinder, front calipers, discs and pads and that will be the braking done! got a full fibreglass interior on the way from lwsdesign (great blokes), venetian shade for the rear window, gearshift boot and handbrake cover, various wolfsburg interior tidbits, adjustable camber tops on the way as well! Gonna get some mates to grab me a deep dish wheel of some sort while they're over in japan in a couple of weeks too. Paid off my MKO001 plates today too so they'll be on the way shortly!

Then it will be just the 4 vdo gauges to wire up, senders to tap in, as well as put in the killswitch i've got, and the interior will be done! minus carpet.

Timing belt, water pump, exhaust and cooling system (rad/hoses) soon for the engine - then after a year and a bit of having this thing it will be finally done!! Gonna rent some decent glass for my camera and take some proper photos, got a place in mind.

Gonna get the seat modplated tomorrow, everything should be fine from what my engineer was saying - can't be driving around without the modplate, especially with the new hoon laws that just got passed...

Thank you! Modplated the seat without a hitch this morning, old mate is going to do a full engineer report and test on my brakes when I get them sorted too. Those wheels will be sitting better when my spacers arrive .

I can't wait either man they've been on lay by since the start of the year and even match the color of the car

My exhaust fell off yesterday - was gonna get a new exhaust in the next couple of weeks anyway, so i'm just pushing that forward and i'll get it out of the way this week and get the hanger repaired at the same time.
