  • Are you sure you the surge is not induced by blow-by or is it always at a constant rpm?

yeah those injector pumps looks so complicated when apart :S
Now that i know how they work (for the most part) it's not so daunting.

Engine was 25,000km old when I pulled the pump apart to replace the pump seal. It did it ever since I put it back together after that. Then my mate cooked it (Previous pages have details), so I had to I re ring it etc.. Still does exactly the same thing.

It does it at a particular RPM under light throttle in every gear. If I floor it, it passes through that RPM smooth as silk. The only thing I can think of is that I've got the collar on the pump shaft around the wrong way, as it has a hole on one side of it.. And maybe it's sticking, then releasing in one big hit? It "feels" like it is more dull than it used to be under light throttle.. But that's a big fat guess, i have nothing to quantify it.

I had a feeling the inlet manifold was too easy to refit!

            • Swapped all the 76er door cards, centre console, black interior door handles, window winders etc and carpet over into the GLD today.

Gave it a damn good vacuum while it had no carpet in it. Found a few bucks.

Man, this thing has spent some time on a farm or something.. The amount of dust and grass under the carpet was crazy! A lot of broken glass too. haha.

Good news is the floor was dry and appeared to be rust free.

Looks so much better now I think. New door trims seem to have gotten rid of the rattles too. It's almost quiet! ha.

If anyone wants a reasonable brown interior you can have the carpet, door cards, grab handles, door catch levers etc etc for a hundred bucks. Otherwise i'll have to scrap it. It's no good to me.

              • No pics? I wanna see!

PS; what condition are the OEM window winders and door handle surround thingos in? Are they tan brown and not faded/cracked etc?

                  I'll get pics tomorrie.

They're the dark brown ones.. That's the only brown though, isn't it?

All the window winders were wallaby ted's cousin. I think all the surrounds were pretty toasted too. I'll have a look. If they're any good they're yours.

You can buy the window winders new in black.. I'll see if I can get you some in brown if you need them.

Yeah man. I had to cut 75mm off it and weld another captive nut on it to get it to fit, but it rolled the lips over a treat.

                            • Took it for a blast up Mount Canobolas today after lunch.. First time on a dirty road. Rides a bit rough but sticks like **** to a blanket.. Really impressed.

I wasn't going silly though as I had a chick in the car.
