A whiff of what's cooking in the kitchen - 'Project Carbon'...
looks super tight Stu, what is the structure holding up the passengers side footwell kicker??
I can see two of the black screws and probably has a bracket on the rear. I'm pretty sure he said its just a show car so doesn't really need to support a great deal of weight.
Obviously insane. The quality is up there with the best money can buy. Keep sharing.
I'll keep showing a few bits and pieces as I get them done
The main thing with the carbon is that all the weave flows the same direction right across the entire car. Even the oil cap is matched to the rocker cover weave so it all flows together. I know, I have a problem - but it's probably appreciated more here than in a therapy group :p

Just curious as to why you ditched the turbo set up in favour of NA?
VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

nice attention for deatails.the bosch label on timing belt in that position must be pure incidental..

Honestly - because it didn't make much of a driver's car. It wheelspan like a trooper in the first four gears and torque steered much the same and was never going to have good throttle response.
If I wanted the car to be a straight-line rocket and not much else, I'd have left it like it was, but it didn't really fit what I wanted with this one. Once it gets a bit bumped and scratched, I intend to use it as a hill climb car with a basic change of spec and NA is far better for this.
It's a very different thing now and the high revs, tight gearing and response suit it a lot more... Plus, it's actually quicker up the strip (except in terminal speed!), as it's a lot more manageable off the line.
I still have the baby blue one, which is turbo'd, but won't get near this again for ages
Speaking of Bosch, a friend of mine showed me a few photo's of your car Stu a while ago. (You guys had some sort of show and tell sort of thing at work). Excellent example of an MK1, and not to mention the figures its making
