Cheers. I've PM'd you my number - if it's raining, send me a text if you want to come up and see the car on your way down

      • Mate this has to be the best mk1 I've ever seen! Always wanted to build one, but this is bigger and better than my dream car... Would love to see it in the flesh, I'm in Melbourne as well. If you ever decide to sell make sure you contact me...

You're welcome to come and see the car anytime, just send me a PM. I'm actually moving to Germany early next year and will probably be forced to sell the car as a result... Someone else has already expressed genuine interest in buying it, though, so they would have first offer. Bear in mind the sale price is obviously not going to be inline with most Mk1s on the market, though

I currently have it off the road for further works, but I intend to be down at the next monthly meet if I can get around to finishing wiring etc.

          • Big photoshoot for PVW last night at Richmond Fire Station. I've added a few extra touches to the car, so will get some pics up of over the weekend. Really happy with the initial shots, pre post-production stage. Big thanks to Bernie and Andrew from Hybrid Imaging and the lads at Richmond Fire Station for allowing us on site late at night

Phase 2 of my build now is finished and the car is a dream come true - until nationals next year, where phase 3 will kick into gear (once my bank balance recovers from six years' of heart attacks and two Mk1 builds)

Pics to come. Also working on a video when I have time!

I think PVW & Golf+ distribution is pretty much dead in Australia, which is a shame

Not sure when it'll be in - it's peak show season in the US and EU, though, so there are plenty of top cars to go around!! I would guess in the next 2-3 months

                • Can normally get pvw at Ellison hawker and I think Trent was going to get them both in at his place, but other than that it's dead here at home. I'll keep an eye out for it, hopefully the GTi will be in form to make it to nationals next year too haha!

Not much leftover - it cost enough as it is! I have a few 16vT bits left, but that's about it

Most of the carbon work was done by K-tech and a few others in Europe. The remainder (being most of the flat panels), I did myself.

                      • One pic from the recent mag shoot - the rest can be seen in print soon

Car is currently off the road for another month or so while I work through another list of mods. Also had a scare recently when my timing belt tensioner split while downshifting at big revs... somehow (**** knows how?!) neither of the timing gears shifted out of position and the most expensive part of the car is intact! First good luck I've had since I started building this car :p

                            • Great work mate, such great attention to detail and good to see that you're able to do it all yourself. What do you do in the automotive trade if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to see the car at the Melbourne DOVW this year if you're going to be there. I"m going to try and drive down for it.

Yeah, I'm planning to make DOVW this year if I'm around and about.

I actually work in automotive & motorsport product marketing communications, but complete a fair bit of technical training as part of my role, so I pick a lot here and learn the rest just by having a go
