LIKE OMG! Im extremely happy that i finally managed to get a pair of coilovers. Great shipping, with exactly 7 day delivery fom Germany. They were Hottunings on ebay, but the box says TuningArt. Who cares

Anyway, they look pretty cool, but im staring at them trying to figure out how to adjust it, and how it works. Hehe if someone can shed some insite
Also.. what do i do to prepare them. I've read somewhere about chain lube being used to prolong the life of them? Any suggestions fellas?

 Cheers
 An extremely happy young man.

As you wind the perch nuts up higher on the shock, it moves the spring up. This lifts the ride height of the car. The height of the perch nut determines your ride height..Originally posted by GeorgeMK1 View PostAnyway, they look pretty cool, but im staring at them trying to figure out how to adjust it, and how it works. People put a bit of chain lube on the spring perch thread so it doesn't seize. It's probably a smart thing to do if you're going to be doing a bid of adjusting as it'll make screwing the perch nut a little easier

I think you need to send them to me

Im ridiculously pissed off. It seems the two holes on the front hub that joins the suspension and hub together (where camber is adjusted) They dont seem to align. I can get the top on on but not the bottom, or vice versa.

The only optioni i see is to redrill the holes, but then the whole will just be bigger, which isnt good at all.

 Im not sure mate,
Have you tried swapping them around? like put left side on right, and right on left. I dont think it should matter, but worth a shot?

Have you tried putting both bolts through before bolting the strut top onto body?<space for rent>

Well i double checked and there is a gap inbetween the hub control arm thingo and the coilovers. I cant explain it so i took a pic.
Anyway im curious, to fill the gap can i place something inbetween the two? Or will i have to cut the mounting off my old suspension and weld it to this one? As it fits that way. Could this suspension possibly be for a newer mk1 that has a wider and longer control arm thingo ?

 Grrrrr.

The control arm thing (waht i was talking about)

Nah maybe its the pic, but its only 2mm maybe 3. Would the mounting plates on the coilovers be suitable to be drilled, so its an oval shape? That way ill be able to get the bolt through?Originally posted by GRN_VAGN View PostCRAP!! thats a good 3-4mm off :S

Then gap in second pic should close up a bit when you tighten bolts,

Also the gap in the second pic is 2mm or so. ANd the plates are solid, so im thinking put washers in between. Should settle the problem

Anyone understand metals and so forth, would me drilling the plates/mounting brackets affect it badly?- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

before you drill anything i'd contact the seller and check the ad that it specifies YOUR model car, if it does I would either request a refund or an exchange if the ones you got are faulty/defective. You do still have consumer rights on ebay, if it doesn't specify your car I'd start looking to on-sellDriving the coal. Low and rattly.

considering they probably came from belgium or wherever and the shipping cost as much as the coilovers themselves (this was the case with the hottunings i got from the hottuning ebay store, mine has TaTechnix or something stamped on them. pretty sure its all the same thing) if its only a few mm off id just make them fit rather then worry about a refund/replacement.sigpic
