i had the pleasure of driving this car yesterday. Had it in my driveway for an hour or so.
wish it was still there.
Looks even cooler in the flesh.
Thanks for babysitting her Brendan. You are a worthy dubber I must say!
Thanks for the kind words - she does photograph very well.
I can't take all of the credit as I am only really bringing it up to the standard that it I am sure was originally intended when the project started oh so many moons ago by Matt. Nevertheless, it has still been some hard yards since I have had her to date.
I got a replacement oil cooler, but had issues getting the oil filter off so have left the car on stands waiting for more patience, and a better filter removal tool.
Fitted a new centre console that has the ashtray and wired in a 12v outlet for iPhone charging duties. Heaps of disconnected wires under the dash so I just wired it up to one of them. Top notch $5 one that is illuminated at that.
Few other bits, new gear linkage bushings and a passenger side remote mirror still to fit.
Need to degrease the engine bay as there is A LOT of oil around the place which is a bit of a worry, but am hoping that it is coming from a pretty easy to locate place.
I've managed to get the oil cooler back on and things seem sweet. Gave it a karcher under the hood and looks the biz.
On my desk at work is a new heater core, so that is the next thing to go in and not a week too soon with winter just around the corner up here in the mountains.
I'm still struggling with a fast idle, I must have a vacuum leak that I have not found yet, I really would like it to be a little lower than 1500 rpm all the time.
The wheels are looking good. Have you tried blocking the idle stabiliser circuit completely and see if it still idles high once warm?
Hey Arno, I really don't know what the issue is. I attempted to remove the ISV from the circuit, but I could not get it to start at all - I need some help from someone with a bit more digifant exposure than my self taught skills. Interested in lending me a few hours some time??
Al, yes, I need to do that. I think that I will get the Bahn Brenner adaptor for the FPR and get some of the fittings to tap into the rail. Just need your ok on which bits to get really! I also should upgrade to some braided fuel line when we do this as well.
Oh and as I don't have a radio, nor plans to add one, I am now thinking a gauge panel to fill the void (not with those gauges, need something more subtle like VDO volt/vacuum/oil pressure)
I'd be guessing just as much as you with digi. I just remember that I had heaps of problems with the same type of ISV on my standalone setup. In the end I got rid of the ISV all together.
So over the last few weeks I have ordered a new fuel rail with an adaptor for an OEM FPR which I am hoping will remedy a few things. Mainly not being able to get the thing to run lean. I also got a few other goodies coming along with it.
I went a bit mental and started to look in to some strange faults - like it having no advance over 4500 rpm - in the end I isolated it to the temperature sensor and temperature gauge both being incorrectly wired - so the obvious conculsion was that the ecu was getting the incorrect input. Today was the first time I had to take it for a spin.
Definately overfuelling, lumpy at idle - but oh how she pulls!!

It is not perfect but a damn sight better than any time I have owned it.
Next on the list is a new rear muffler, I am going batty with the drone - either that or an additional muffler somewhere in the system if it will fit.
Very happy to have taken her out for an hour though.
