I'd say Brian would probably have some, they're not real expensive. I might even have some old ones, I usually hit them with some K&H bumper spray and they look like new again. I'll check on the weekend.

As for tyres 195/50 is the closest to our standard rolling diameter and is the size to get from my experience. I borrowed Will's 55 toyo r888's once and my speedo was out and the car didn't feel as zippy - ends up being nearly 1cm more sidewall.

            I checked this morning. 195 50 15 - I'll wear these out first.

Booked in for some guard rolling action on the weekend and then she can go down a little more.

Then some bigger news to come over the next few months.

You're going to get rid of it and buy a MK2?

                Great plan

                  Ha, nice call, but no.

I have a MK2 dash, gearbox and 16V head - so will settle with that for now for mk2 bits.

                    • Tiring weekend of MK1 action.

Friday, Dan detailed her and it came back as good as it can - there are some issues that will never be resolved with detailing, they may mean I get the roof resprayed.

The tailights I have spent ages siliconing up, well that really did not help, they still don't seal and so I think it is time to silicone them into the body once and for all.

Re trimmed the rear boot space and back of rear bench seat so it was more tidy.

Had a bit of an issue with the indicators not working, it turned out to be the hazard light switch had deteriorated. Got some hijinx happening and it is working on at least the indicator function for now.

Heater core failed, so I have a soggy passenger carpet and now also no fan box assembly - disconnected the hoses in the engine bay. I'm considering leaving it out, for summer I will leave the heater blower hole open in the rain tray and cover it up in winter. This may change when winter actually arrives!!

Today Alex rolled the guards and trimmed the flares. Dropped it on it's guts so I could be scene, but the tyres are simply too wide for that, so it has come up a little. It now scrubs often enough to remind you your in a lowered mk1, but not so often that the tyres are going to be chewed out in a fortnight. I'll go to 185 next time, the 195 is too much. Some top work from Al again!

Came home and cleaned her up and she is off for a few days of 'work' and then I need to think about what to do next. Linkage kit, front bushes, I think a ball joint has gone and engine mounts are the ones that are on the cards along with a CV boot that has spewed grease all over my nice BBS.
