Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not sure what's the best way to go with the engine, maybe petrol if you're going to touch it anyway?
That is what I was thinking. But then the question is what do I do?

    1) 1.8L 8V
    2) 2.0L 8V
    3) 1.8T 20V
    4) 2.0T(Mk5 GTi motor)

The possibilities are endless. Depends on how much I can afford at the time of making the decision.

    • Will the Mk5 motor be more hassle to engineer?

Otherwise most powerful NA that will be easiest to get in.

The Mk5 motor I will need to modify the dash as the dash helps run the motor and make a fair few mods for the front suspension and brakes etc.

But it is doable. And the Mk5 motor is turbo charged which could do with an APR mapping or stage upgrade.

        • The turbo would be awesome if you can swing am that but I'd be happy with a better NA engine and enjoy it.

True that. So I’m contemplating what to do. I was even thinking a 1.9TDi or 2.0TDi.

And then do a stand alone mapping system to help with low end torque. [emoji87]

              • You've got some options, that's for sure.

I guess what's available will help you decide.

Sure do have some options. For now all I want to do is get her on the road and enjoy her. It’s been a process and a half to get to this point with all sorts of stuf going on.

But I’m making it happen and just staying focused on the basics.

Where are you located? Sounds like you might be close to the ACT?

Nice. Will get in touch once she is officially on the road and we can do a meet up. [emoji1634]

Been a little busy with work and life in general. But hoping in the next couple of months to have a really big update to announce. [emoji87][emoji87][emoji87]
