Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    • How is the intake going? on hold till gearbox issue sorted?

      • Yeah was on hold for a little due to gearbox and I've been pretty busy with work
I'm going to need to refit it to make mounts for it and the rest is just maf and two breathers on it (can do them off car) but instead of wasting my time here and there I'll just get the box/clutch sorted and finish of the intake in one go. I'll try grab a pic of what it looks like currently, it's not pretty but best I could do with my skills lol

        • So clutch arrived and everything is booked in for next Saturday the 18th to put everything back in

Also got a picture of how the intake is coming along. It's 1 piece and all welded and welds ground down
Needs mounts, two breather pipes and maf parts made and welded
There is also one 90 degree silicon joiner that goes from the 2.5" reducer onto the comp cover of the turbo

          • Interesting to see how it goes. Look the goods

            • Update
Had a mate come past and we fitted up the clutch and gearbox, was all good until the test drive
clutch slipped heaps (contacted Darkside and they advised that it should for the first 500miles) anyway that wasn't the big issue the release bearing let go majorly and popped the spring out from inside itself so it also rode the crap out of the clutch plate
So now Darkside are sending me a new clutch dish and release bearing and car is still off the road

                      • It does but I can't get a fitted picture because the cars reversed in the garage and all jacked up for the clutch/gearbox currently

                        • Well a pretty serious update, recently I found out that a car I've liked for quite sometime was approved through SEVS to be eligible for import from Japan.
Now about 8 years I had paid the J-Spec Imports service fee when I was looking for my first r32 skyline sedan but never actually used it.
I contacted Ben and was happy to start searching and a few weeks after missing out on one very clean one (costed $7000 more) I was the winning bidder and the new proud owner of a 2002 Toyota Crown Majesta 10th Anniversary edition.
This is the top of the line model with all the optional extras as standard features and a few extra features itself.
So sadly the golf is returning to stock apart from the gti seats, rear 3rd LED brake and spoiler and will be for sale within the month and selling all the parts.
But looking forward to the new addition, it's going to be hard going from a tdi to a petrol v8 but it's going to be an awesome Jap style VIP cruiser once I get my hands on it.
Will update soon with some pics and try to keep updating with the Majesta as I'll still be frequenting meets and keeping all the friendships through the VW scene I've made

                          • Very unfortunate Nick, but congrats on the buy none the less.

You've done one hell of a build.
