  • I must admit I have scraped a couple of times on very steep driveways / ramps but now I am a lot more careful...
You will also need to be careful when parking... especially in Melbourne with the taller gutters lol.
I also find the concrete wheel strips in parking spots can be an issue... but reversing in fixes all of that

1 Question i do have is how are u guys coping with clearance. She_dub said that she doesn't have too Many issues and simply takes driveways more on an angle than before. Any thoughts from the rest of u with springs?

    • Hmmm a bit of a sneak peak at what will be coming next for mine...

6 pot Brembo 18Z Caliper from Q7 with 350 x 32mm slotted rotor. Still to source the braided lines and pads are most likely going to be Hawk.

Final cost fitted and bled should be under $1500

Where did u get this price? I paid $3k for mine (I'm running 355mm rotors cross drilled and slotted) but still! That's an incredible price.

$500 for the Calipers (2nd hand), $240 for the rotors (single piece), $100 all up for paint and decals. The rest will be for pads, braided lines, fitting and bleeding plus any misc bits I need.... These will have the Factory wear indicators as well.

The Calipers are OEM VAG made by Brembo and are fitted to Touareg, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne.

PS: Be very careful with your discs... Cross drilled discs are way more susceptible to cracking... and do absolutely nothing for cooling.

          • Yeah I heard about that also. But I'm not planning to put that much heat into them. So far so good and I've had them for over 2 years.

I assume these had to be re-drilled in order to fit the 5x112 bolt pattern of the Rocco?

              • The Rotors?? No, they are Mercedes Benz GL450, ML63 AMG, R500 / R63 AMG which are all 5 x 112 bolt pattern and feature the correct offset to suit the standard mounting point.
The caliper mounts up to the standard mounts on the hub using a new bolts and a spacers to allow the use of a 14mm bolts.

This is a very common low cost BBK option in the USA and to some extent Europe for Mk5, Mk6 Golf and Audi S3....
The hard part is finding good used Calipers although you can buy new from ECS for US$450 each approx.

                • Sounds great! I was about to go and see Specialised Brake & Clutch Services in Penrith to see what options I had as they upgraded my last car. This sounds a lot simpler than the last job.

                  • Link Request

                    Hi guys,

Can someone kindly re-post the links on where to get the H&R and Eibach springs?

I'd like to compare them and ultimately make a purchase. I've measured my OEM height and find that even after dropping 35mm on H&Rs the front lip will still be 10-11cm off the ground, which is good.

Also what would the ideal wheel offset be, if I were to buy another set of 19x8 or 8.5 to re-use my 235/35 tyres?
I know the standard offset is 41mm, and to get it flush with the body (without rubbing) I have to use 8mm spacers upfront and 12mm on the rears. So would it be ok if I buy a set of 19x8.5 ET31 then?

Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

                    • The H&R's will not drop the R 35mm, I cant remember how much they drop... Bain has them fitted to his Rocco and he had pictures of before and after as well as some measurements... I am sure he can help you with that information.
As for the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, they drop you about 20mm front and 10 to 15mm rear and from all accounts they are not as stiff as the H&R's... Different manufacturers go in different directions... Eibach are all about ride quality as well as handling rather than outright handling over ride quality.. Again... this is only my opinion as I have not sampled a Rocco on H&R's.

With wheel offset you need to also look at the wheel width... there are some good tools in the Wheel and tyre section for calculating it all but in general you should be OK with either 35 or as low as 30.. Most people tend to go with 35 as there is less chance of guards scraping but I have seen an ET of 26 used on fronts with no issue.

                      • Lowering springs

                        Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to get some advice from people who have (or are looking to) lower their sciroccos.

I'm aware there are a few brands out there. I'm leaning towards VWR, and H&R second. Would appreciate any thoughts and experiences... Would be great if you could share where you bought them as well.

Also, how much would installation cost? (with or without alignment?)

                        Thanks!!

                        • VMR Springs Fitted

Well I finally had my VWR Springs fitted.

Have to say I've fallen in love with my car again, the stance is perfect.

It is still very manageable to drive around town just have to take care over larger bumps etc.

The ride has changed, it is a little stiffer but it is just as/if not more comfortable than OEM in all settings.

Sorry for the photos, I must admit they were a little bit of an afterthought

Now to save up for some more aftermarket mods for this beast
