      • So started on the modding slippery slope today.

Have ordered and APR tune and VWR springs. There's a back log on the springs so it might be a little while.

Car is 7 months old today (in registration terms) so I think I've been quite patient compared to some. More patience now required with the wait on the springs. It seems like waiting is the VW way.

            • I did APR stage 1 ECU update today and I am extremely impressed with the improvement in power and driveability. I haven't had a chance to get out of town yet but what I've seen so far is awesome.

                  • I havent had a chance to observe for long enough yet but it hasnt gotten any worse than the 17.0-18.0L I've seen over the first 3000Kms lol

All reports are it will improve. I'll keep an eye on it. I really want the CAI now, but I feel springs might be more beneficial to help off-set the arse end dipping under acceleration.

                      • About time ...i agree Bec. I'm not sure where the year has gone. The "mods" are a Christmas present. With no more travel planned for the year i can just hang out until Dean has the springs in stock. Won't be too long.

Port philip council are also about to fix the drriveway at the office so i should be able to park the car without fear of its nose dragging on the ground.

                        • Well I finally got around to having my Q7 Brembo Brakes fitted up today.

It ended up being done slightly different to how they mount them in the US and Europe... We used a helicoil insert into the upright and used the OEM bolt to secure the Caliper to the upright... This was on the recommendation of a Brake Engineer.
This is a far better method then a bolt and spring washers...

Stopping power is monstrous...yet very progressive... no drama with balance between front and rear.
There are a few crappy iPhone pics but they really dont show how big these things are.

You can see the difference in Pad area... quite dramatic.

                          Disc and Caliper mounted

Plenty of clearance with my BBS wheels...

One last one of the Pads

The overall beauty is that I am running Standard OEM spec Ceramic pads from ATE and the wear sensor is connected.
Now to fit my other Mod on the weekend for some wonderful intake noises and I will stop... for now

                            • Hi Kevin
No.. I should have though. The Calipers themselves are around half the weight of the OEM ones... maybe even lighter but as I am using Single piece discs there isnt going to be a huge weight saving...
It is more about looks and stopping power as I was starting to find the OEM brakes wanting when getting aggressive on some twisty roads...
I am pretty sure these will surpass my level of commitment, not to mention driving skills
