Map update sc/dvd Error

I purchased a v8 update disc from Navigation au but when I insert it in my RNS510 C (LED) it ejects the disc and throws a cd/dvd check disc error, I'm using F,ware 5238.
The unit accepts both f ware and map updates uploaded from this site. Any help appreciated. Cheers Garry

See if you can copy the disc to a fresh blank — sometimes that'll correct the error.

If it won't copy, or that makes no difference, send it back.

Was the motor running when you put it in.

Is it an original disk or a copy.

No 6 in the T & C's may upset you a bit

As far as I know its a genuine disk but no the motor was not running. This is the 2nd gen nav disc I have tried and both give the same error. Copied to known good dvd still no good. Yes TC 6 is a beaut!!!

If the original is crook so will be the copy. One thing with the RNS510 is that you cannot install the same version map that is already in the unit.

EG if its on V6 you can go down to V5 or up to V7 or V8 but V6 wont reinstall over its self.

I realise you said you were trying to install V8 but is it really???? Your map disc should look similar to this one if its genuine

Yep that's the one Navigationau were really help full "Looks like you have some problem with the disc reader" I'll never use them again!!

Well put up a post to see if someone in your area has another disc and can lend it to you. Ive got one but am half way to Caloundra.

Another way to check is see if it will play a DVD Do you have kids?? Would they have put something in the DVD slot?
Wouldnt be the first time
Lastly you can buy a laser cleaning disc for about $10 and try that before spending money on it It has a little brush in it and you just put the disc in and let it do its thing. Has worked on Playstations for me.

Thank you. It will play other dvd's just not the V8 update.
As I said I got the V7 iso and burnt it that works perfectly. I even redid the f/ware and tried with no maps . Think its a clean or a new DVD loader

You can try this to copy the maps to an SDCard.
I've never tried it but worth a shot:

It didn't see the v8 disc as an iso image.

Final update.
I bought a new DVD M5 drive from a Polish site and replaced the old M3 ,all very simple,and the unit now works perfectly. Thank you all for your help
