  • I have a DNS810 and things are working well. HOwever, like others, I found the IGO a bit flaky and slow - so I'm trying to get the Sygic up and running. The current trial I have is expired - I've got an activation code for North America, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone share (or PM) me some advice to get the Sygic up and running on the DNS810?

    Dave

    • Hi,

      I currently have a ANS610 unit.
      Everything works pretty well.
Right now I have two problems with the unit:
      1. FM station doesn't change in hot weather over 30
      2. BT microphone is not really good

I'm thinking of buying the new DNS610 unit. Is it worth it? Can I use an external microphone? What are the differences?
Sorry, if it was asked before I took some hours to read thread but didn't find anything

        Hey mate,

Whether it's worth it or not is up to you. Can't use an external mic, unfortunately, and it's still a bit tinny (i've been told it can be hard to hear, but IDK). BT Audio streaming leaves a lot to be desired as well, hopefully can be fixed in software but who knows.

Other differences are in the 1st post of this thread.

Other units to consider would be the Zenec 2015, Dynavin N6, RNS510+9W7 BT (ofc), the Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood units + faceplate + idatalink module (for oem connectivity and functionality), and the various generic android units, each with their own pros and cons.

Depends on what you want and how much you're willing to pay/fuss with it, but yea.

        Hope that helps

        • Been using Sygic for several days now. It looks a bit naf, but works well.
Only pain for Sygic would be trying to cancel the route if you change your mind (looks at wifey with loving eyes)...

Since we popped in Sygic (due to loosing the old nav sd card and was thinking of doing it anyway), the unit's performance has been good, used the SD card, ipod, etc with no issues

          • Got Sygic working - and as others have noted, works well and is fast, which is nice. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to turn the rear camera on when the car is in reverse? I had this working when I first got the unit, but I did a reset and now it doesn't seem to work. Is it in a menu somewhere that I'm missing (hidden menu)?

The only other issue I'm having is the time setting is not workings (its always about 12 hours ahead). Reading through these articles seems like there doesn't appear to be a fix at this time - is that right?

            • Does anyone know how to engage Audiosources support for the DNS810? I seem to have reset my unit such that the reverse camera no longer comes on automatically. I'd like to get this resolved, but I'm not sure who to contact..

              Thanks,

              Dave

Audiosources Electronic Technology (Shenzhen) Co.,Ltd or you could try Fiona at marketing@audiosources.net or sales@audiosources.net

The hidden menu is as per the 1st post in this thread, go to aux in, press and hold the middle of the screen on the left hand side for a few seconds and it will pop up. Sounds like either the reverse camera has turned itself off, or something has gone wrong with your wiring?

Re the time setting, its because the unit is set to china time (gmt+. I am not sure how to change it, but I know it is possible, I just haven't worked it out/found the time to work it out yet. I think maybe you can change it in total commander? IDK though.

                • Thanks Moda - I'll try redoing the wiring again to see if I can get the rear camera working.

I also contacted audiosource about purchasing a replacement USB cable for the DNS810. Does anyone know if these cables can be purchased elsewhere?

                  Dave

Yea, have a fiddle and see how it goes. If it was working before and not working now, my guess is either the wiring has come lose somewhere, or its been turned off in the system, not sure if you can, though. Mines been working perfectly.

As for the USB cable, its an OEM Fakra socket, so you should be able to source a VW OEM usb cable and it should work fine. I think you can get ones that go into the button row infront of the gear stick, like here: Never saw this USB port before - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com which is pretty neat.

Edit: The OEM fakra plugs on the DNS should be: USB, GPS, Radio Antenna. The wiring harness also piggybacks the OEM aux-in jack in the centre console. The only cables that aren't OEM would be the iPod jack, and it doesn't accept any of the MDI inputs either.

IF it has been "turned off in the system" - do you know where I would turn it on again? I looked in the hidden menu and can't find anything obvious.

My aux-in jack no longer worked after I installed the DNS810 - so I assumed it was not supported. Is it supposed to work?

                      THanks!

I'm not sure, can't remember if there is a setting in there or not, I'll have a look when I go to uni in a bit. Auxin jack should work, its part of the big wiring harness (from memory), unless they changed it in the new version... but mine works, so IDK.

I drive my car everyday but over the weekend I didn't drive it.
Went to start it this morning to go to work and the ****er won't fire(not cranking fast enough).
Battery is only a few months old.

Ok, so I had a look, it might be 'Back A Car Track' (should be on), or maybe the camera power setting? Mine is set to high power.

No real battery drain issues here. If it sits there for a few weeks it may chug a little bit (brand new battery), but otherwise no other issues.

                              • Quick guide on how to change the timezone.

                                1) Download GpsPasSion Forums - MioPocket 4.0 (Unlock for GPS devices)
                                2) Extract Total Commander to SD Card
                                3) Insert SD card into GPS slot on unit, change navigation path to total commander, press nav to open Total Commander
                                4) in TC, navigate to /windows/ and double click explorer.exe (this will open up the WinCE shell - Annoyingly its in chinese)
                                5) Open control panel (the start bar may be obscured by the lower fascia, so you may have to stab blindly at the bottom of the screen to get explorer/the start menu open)
                                6) go to regional settings, change time zone, click ok, reboot unit, replace SD card, change navigation path back to Sygic

Timezone will be sorted. Should persist on reboots, probably not on reflash though.

I must note that WinCE is all in chinese, and the start bar may not show up first when you open it, in which case, go to the units menu and it might decide to show up, or just stab blindly at the bottom left corner and it should pop up. The whole thing is a bit fiddly and not ideal, especially since its in chinese, but yea, not much you can really do, just gotta play around and interpret whats going on creatively.
