No idea mate, never used the rear screen function.

Edit: The older firmware versions, like the ones you're running, had heaps of issues, so yea.

      • Hello. Yesterday reflash your DNS610 version in December 2013. In this firmware Primo 2.01 works just fine! Link to the firmware on the first page of topics

          1) Primo has never worked properly, even with older versions
          2) Why would you run such an old firmware anyways, it had heaps of bugs. The current version(s) are significantly better.

          ???

I suspect that Audiosources may have done some tweaking and Primo works better in the new (new canbus decoder) version of the DNS, otherwise people just aren't very good and seeing how broken it is?

          • I installed the old firmware because the latter worked very unstable. Besides the cold weather in Russia, and the device was loaded with 10 times. On December firmware today DNS610 booted immediately. Primo works really fast!

            • More forgot to say. Manager of Audiosources told me that they did not change can bus chip. and set that everything is the same. Here is her answer - About the chips, we always use the Japanese Shinwa chip as car standard line chip, dear, pls kindly note.

Strange, what version were you using before?

Not my experience, the latest firmwares are way better than the december version. I've used each version a lot. Even in the december version Primo was ****. The latest versions are much more stable, there are very little bugs and it works much better in general.

Sounds like there was a language barrier. They definitely did change the canbus decoder module.

                • I tried all firmware versions that were available in this forum. The latest version of October - tightly halts When switching the device options TA radio. Plus my favorite navigation software Navitel works in all firmware is not very stable. In the December version is no navigation problems. Yes, if you're interested - there is a free navigation software 7 ways. She works with the format OpenstreetMap maps. And Map reference

                  • I'm back in action guys, sorry about the wait. I haven't been fully idle either, had to check in on the status of return shipment on my honeymoon at the reasonable rate of $1 per minute of internet.

Long story short I had to pay another $750 to get the shipment out of China customs and redirected to a maildrop address I rented in Hong Kong. However the maildrop company is unable to send the shipment cross border because of similar issues with customs. Chinese regulations are very strict about defective electronic goods coming into China.

The good news is that the HK address is only some 50km away from Audiosources. So, $1500 later, one way or another we should be able to get the shipment across the border, even if it means someone physically drives over and picks up the shipment rather than using a courier company. I will let you guys know, I should be able to sort it out this week.

I'll start the process of going through my emails and PMs but it'll have be slowly over this week. I should have caught up on my correspondence as well by the end of the week.

No worries mate, hope you had a great time

Wow, those returns sound like one hell of a mess, hopefully it all gets sorted!

Just got passed along new firmware for the DNS (October 18 ), but it was for the new version (MCU = 'A') with updated canbus (V02), so waiting to hear back about whether there is one for the older DNS. Bit annoying, but it should be good once we get the new canbus decoder.

Edit: Got new version for the old DNS. Works fine, SD seems a lot quicker. Theres now a time zone option, so no more fussing about in WinCE.

Will probs upload both versions for new and old on friday once uni is out of the way.

They definitely did, the new CAN-Bus model is named DNS 610+ / 810+ now, ask your contact about it. Also when you say "her answer", you are not talking to the manager of Audiosources. The manager is male and does not speak English.

When you say cold weather, I wonder if you got a pre-production batch of units - did you get your unit around December last year / January?

I suspect the December firmware you are talking about is the 16bit version. 16bit is less CPU-intensive so things might feel smoother, and maybe the old pre-production units like 16bit better. However Primo still has issues when SD / USB is running in the background while Primo is running with the 3D map moving on the screen. If you are sitting in your garage fiddling with it without simulating a navigation route you should not have any issues with Primo. Alternatively if you have radio in the background (instead of SD or USB) you should also not have any issues with Primo even when driving / navigating.

Anyway I will need to do some testing of the latest firmware version. About time they implemented the timezone option, I've been asking for it since I started testing Sygic months ago.

^ This. Also, as evidenced by the fact that Sandy has had both units, and the software is forked into 2 versions now, Old canbus and new canbus decoders. I even have the files to prove it.

Finished with uni now so can/will upload new firmware for everyone, if ya'll want. Working fine so far, no issues *shrugs*

Anyways, probably nap time now though :p

                          • Cool would that be for the old canbus version?

October 2014 DNS Firmware for both old and new CANBUS models. You absolutely *MUST* read the instructions before installation.

Old CANBUS = MCU version string DOES NOT CONTAIN the letter "A", CANBUS version is "VV_HW_3013110791"
New CANBUS = MCU version string contains the letter "A", CANBUS version starts 'VW_V02'

CONFIRM AND READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FLASHING.

Might take a while to upload, sorry about that.

Hello. Sorry for my bad English - translation difficulties. I bought my DNS610 in June 2014. The firmware version was dated December 2013. The manager, with whom I spoke name is Lisa. Did I correctly asked her about the change module CANBUS, so got the wrong answer. The meaning of my next posts - with all firmware other than December 2013 my DNS610 bad start in the cold
