Yea I couldn't minimize it either. Gave up pretty quick after finding out how **** it was to use. Kinda at a loss as to what to do.

    • I honestly believe that they don't give a **** about the DNS units anymore.
How can they say that they don't have the same nav sd/usb lag problem with units they have sold in China.
How can they just keep bringing out new models and leave these the way they are?
That promised capacitive screen has found it's way onto there AS-8848 Android unit and
look how they are spruiking that and the s600 unit with an extensive product description on there new flash website.
Yet have look at the lack of a product description for any of the DNS range.
Something smells fishy and it ain't my fingers.

I feel like its the 610 more than anything, most of the issues voiced seem to be from those with 610s.

I honestly don't know what the alternatives are, assuming that Audiosources can't get their act together and fix the damn CPU thing. You've got the other chinese units like the Eonon and Audiosources S600, but they lack OEM integration and UI is still a bit potato. There is also the new Dynavin N6, which looks nice, might be a bit $$$ and not sure how well OEM integrated it is (ie MFD/AC controls etc). There are all the pure android units (theres one that is basically a DNS810 with Android 4.2.2 on it). UI looks pretty ****ty on those, honestly. There is the new 2014 Zenec unit, but they're silly expensive. There are '2nd party' units from Alpine/Kenwood, with the 2din dash kit and Idatalink, which gives you all the OEM integration, but looks obviously 3rd party, and are really expensive too (you're looking more than $2k+). If you're spending that much, you may as well just get the RNS510 and forget the whole damn thing.

It's frustrating because the DNS810 would be freaking perfect, if Audiosources could pinpoint the freaking CPU bug (ie upgrade it to WinCE7.0 or Android).

        Ugh.
Yeah, I'm with you We all were really excited about DNS810 when they told us about it...

Dynavin and Zenec seems like what we want from these chinese guys, good quality products, but they have just 6' or 7' screens and costs 1500$-2000$.
I don't like Android units because they have just ugly Android on top, not a car interface.

I think I'll go for the new S600. UI seems pretty nice, and everything seems to work fine... But it's cheap (+-300USD).

        • Hi Sandy

How is your initial testing of the new revision head unit?

If all else fails and it looks like we're not able to receive a functioning unit soonish, what is the chances we could be offered the choice of an alternative unit?

            • Has anyone else used the cd/dvd player?
Noticed in the last couple of days that it has some issues also.

                • Was playing a DVD yesterday and after about 5 minutes the picture went away and the screen was like it was playing a music CD.
Had to shut it down to get the picture back.
Bought a CD today (yes I still buy CD's)and it wouldn't load.
Tried another new CD (yes I bought 2) and it took a while to load.
After playeing the 2nd CD for a few songs I retied the 1st CD again and it worked but loads really slowly.
Track number didn't show on the screen until after track 2 I noticed nothing on the screen,
I went previous track and then it showed up.
Also I have never felt a CD so hot after playing it.

                  • I've used DVDs and CDs in the car a few times. I noticed the issue with the track numbers. But the DVD thing with the screen turning off I have not seen yet.

Got in the car this morning and as I was listening to a CD when I was last in the car that's what started playing.
I went to change it to the radio and it wouldn't change.
Nothing would work, it just kept playing the cd.
Tried shutting it down with the power button and that wouldn't work.
Had to turn the ignition off and pull the key to shut it down.

                      • Last time I talked to Sandy was 25/07, fwiw.

Tried out some CDs today. No track number issues, but it doesn't support gapless playback (ie it takes a few seconds to load the next track), and I've had the long disk loading thing too. Sitting here in the carpark for the past 5 mins and it won't load this CD.

Yea that's ****ed. I have a diskman from the 90s that supports gapless and has a 30s skip less cache and loads tracks instantly. How someone can have a product that doesn't even do that in 2014 is completely ****ed.

                          • I want it to be known that I have no hard feelings towards Sandy as I believe Audiosources have let this piece of **** be sent out to
distributors and customers without testing them properly or knowing what the **** they are doing.
It's pretty simple, I want my money back!

Did you get yours through Sandy, or through AS? You might have to contact sandy to get a refund, if AS aren't talking.

I've been in contact with Fiona at AS about feedback/our issues etc, though she hasn't replied to my emails in about 2 weeks, probably got sick of me haha.

Yea, Sandy is a good bloke, just trying to make the best of a bad situation. Last time we spoke he said his wedding is imminent, so was trying to get the DNS mess all sorted before it, but probably not because of Audiosources being a pain.
