So either the flash went wrong somehow, or the units just being stupid, I dunno.

Trying to force a BSP/MPU flash would probably be a good thing anyways.
Sorry, but what does BSP/MPU stands for actually?

How do I force a flash? Just completely helpless here

I actually used the micro sdcard that came with the GPS, i copied the GPS files out, and put the firmware files in....

I explained what each of them are in my post above:

BSP (Coloured writing on black screen) = Base Level WinCE Install
MCU (prompt on insert card) = Unit Software Layer
      MPU (White screen) = Drivers

(If that's correct, can't remember exactly).

So what you did, if you just did the first flash on inserting the card into the booted unit, was just flash the MCU, which is the software layer (ie all the stuff you see ontop), you shouldn't have damaged anything critical (BSP/MPU).

If you leave the card in while booting the unit, that will initiate the BSP/MPU flash.

i did leave the card and connect the unit... but once i connect it, the lights start flashing... holding down the power button doesn't do anything...

        appreciate your input... thanks...

        • Did you format the card before copying everything onto it (making sure to do the UPD first) or just delete all the files then copy?

Also make sure you format it to FAT32.

the first time i did it with just removing the files. then it screwed up, with the blinking lights.

then i formatted it with FAT32 and tried it again, but it didn't work.

the thing is the moment i plug it in, the unit starts to have it's lights blinking already...

            • The only other thing I can suggest is to re-download the files. Also maybe try a different SD card.

Otherwise I'd contact AS and see what help (if any) they can give you.

              • Yea I can't think of anything, probably best to get in contact with Audiosources. I'd be almost certain it's recoverable though.

                • just one more question, how do u actually do a factory reset? Just poke the small hole at the front of the unit?

                  • No that's the mic for the Bluetooth (I think). You do it through the software or via a reflash.

tried with another SD card, same results... give up... wait for AS to reply... sighz.

                      • Any chance of getting updated firmware? Or do we need to start reaching out to Audiosources individually?

I got an email last monday saying the late July firmware was the latest so far, and that they'll update me when a new stable firmware is ready. Who knows when that will be though. I've been trying to get updates every few weeks, so yea. You can try and get in contact with them yourself (marketing@audiosources.net), if you want, though. Post in this thread if you do get an update

                          • I don't get it. Sandy said his competitive advantage when the group buy was launched was local support, and now everyone has to contact audiosources direct?

                            Where did sandy go ?

If he has given up on supporting his customers then he should make a public statement about his intentions.

Some of the people contributing in this thread didn't buy theirs from Sandy, but directly from Audiosources.
