installing new firmware wiped the pois for me last time I did the upgrade, but installing maps doesn't touch them from experience.

Definitely doesn't wipe POIs. Installed mine last nite and it went a treat. Took about 15-20 mins. I cheated, though. Pressed the eject button soon after it started so I could see progress. Managed to have a cup of tea while it was loading

Image name is CD_7920....... so yeah it appears the version is 7920......can anyone who has installed this upgrade vouch that it actually is V6 and will it wipe out all my POI's if I install this????

Strictly speaking, every map version has its own set of POI. One would hope that the POI set provided on a newer map is also newer.
So from that perspective, the answer is YES.

If you had a custom POI.db3 file appended to an original map (i.e. modified map), then the answer is also YES when installing any original map (whether newer or older) over your modified map.

But if your custom POI was in the form of a PersonalPOI.db3 file imported via SD Card, then answer is NO.
However, if that file somehow came from me then that version around the time of the V5 map were POIs collated as at Feb 2012.

Current version of both files has recently been refreshed and collated as at Feb 2013.
Go to the Collection of POI's sticky to re-download these latest versions.

i installed mine last night. all good.

on a side note.....seems radio text is now working in canberra
worked in sydney, but not in canberra. however last night, while waiting for the map install, i noticed it working after re-enabling it.
just wish it would cycle through the text quicker.

What exactly is Radio text and is it likely to be available in Brisbane

Its available in the 4100+ firmwares - It generally shows the Artist and Title of the song that's playing for Brisbane stations. The text doesn't show on the MFD

Thank you for this fantastic thread. I downloaded the maps, put it in and saved it. All seemed to work fine. I have no idea if the new maps are being used. How do i check? I did a quick google and it said to hold down setup but i do that and it only goes to the FM,AM,DAB screen and doesnt go past that?

It means you have older Firmware which can be updated to give the secret menu VIM etc. Usually 4020 will do it

Yep mate, it came out a few months later There are links in the thread below, I'm not 100% sure if karmold fixed the issue where it reset the VCDS coding or not.

Unless your unit is one of the very first 2009, 2010 units you should be fine.
