Firmware went on easy, loaded v5 maps, now restoring my music to hard disk.. next is phone and see if that works.... then a drive tonight to check out speed cameras.. I noticed a voice control setting button, I know there is a mike in the overhead console, I wonder if it would work..

What a bonus.. the phonebook downloaded, been trying to get that feature working for weeks.

I have a March 2011 build TDI and I have tried to get the screen up to show me the version and firmware etc.

When I hold down the setup button it only goes to a screen with Radio options with AM and FM in it

Any suggestions on how to find out how to get the other screen to appear

Upgrading firmware to 39xx will (as I understand it) enable secret menu & VIM.

Indeed, I only suggested the patch CD as it seems he wants to find out what version he's running before updating the firmware, so suggesting to update the firmware to find out is a bit catch 22.

Fair call Ryan...but you did suggest that he update the firmware.....no?

Given that the vehicle is a Mar 2011 build...it's a good chance that the unit will accept 39xx series, and therefore he will have all revealed. YMMV.

I did, for the same reason you did. Why waste more time on something than what's necessary

I took the car for a drive today to checkout what was working.. I think the map itself is better.. Voice control for rns510 is there but does not seem to understand me.. VIM does not work... But the thing I really want is the cameras, The camera icons appear on screen but there is no audible warning... How do I fix that?

Well what a waste of time... If that is true, what is the point of putting them on, You would have to watch the screen the whole time you are driving. I am surprised I did not notice that mentioned in 18 pages of comments... Still, very gratefull for the help I got to put newer firmware and map on..
