  • Ask an eBay seller - they should know for sure (I'd imagine they get asked plenty of times).

Do you know which version of the CAN BUS gateway you have, as I think that might determine the answer (v2 is old, 3 is current).

    • Thanks Ryan -- will do that.
I have upgraded the gateway to an AD when I installed the RCD510. Not sure, but pretty sure that is a V3 (will check with the Vagcom tonight - pretty sure I saw that in there.)
      Al..

      Edit: Asked the following:
In the ad you state "BT support white dot matrix but can be installed also in cars without MFA+ / MFD with and without multifunction steering wheel"
Does this mean that the BT and A2DP will work in cars without the white dot matrix? Even the low line (half height) MFD?
      And got the following response
Yes can be installed and You can operate the module from navigation unit.
So I guess I'll have a go - if not there'll be a cheap BT on here.

      • so i finally got my bt unit and ill be TRYING to install it tomorrow!

does anybody have any links to guides for a mkv jetta, or for the coding that needs to be done?

bluewagen didnt really give a detailed guide for me at all!

i found this link: HowTo: RNS-510 Installation + Coding ('09 Jetta) - TDIClub Forums but do i really need to take apart the entire fascia?

also how have you guys mounted the microphone? any tips or tricks to run it up there?

        Thanks as always

        • I have instructions for a Mk6 Golf which might be helpful to some degree: https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B4fMk...download&hl=en

When I installed my bluetooth I think I used instructions for how to do it on a Mk5 Jetta and I just adapted it, but the PDF link doesn't work anymore.

As far as removing the air vents in your dash go, I think you only have to do that when installing the RNS510 so you can hide the GPS receiver in there, but I'm not 100% sure. There's probably a Mk5 Golf DIY guide out there somewhere that would be pretty similar to the Jetta as well. Google is your friend.

          • thx for that!

yer i have been googling but cant really find a comprehensive one which is why i asked.

            How much coding is needed?

            bluewagen gave me this info:

            STEP 4:
‐ Codification of the Radio / Navigation, the unit of Bluetooth and multifunction steering wheel (Only if any) by Vag‐com / Vas 5051 or higher.
If you purchased the interface with ref:7P6035730C or higher ( 2009 models )
‐Please recode the module 77 telephone:
            VW Golf/Jetta (1K9) / VW Passat (3C9) / VW Tiguan (5N9)/ Scirocco (13):
            0A01000000010110 ( English )
            ‐Please recode module 19 Gateway:
Please find 77 telephone and activate it To enable the voice dialing, (key microphone of the steering wheel) in some cases it’s necessary recoding of Channel 16 Steering wheel, 07 in the recoding function will change the value of the digit in the position of the question 018?040000 if there is a 2 in this case we must change for a letter “A”. ‐Match the telephone access code and type in 0000
and i have no idea what it means lol

              • So this morning installed my BT kit 7P6035730G inot my MkV GTi with RCD510 (and gateway upgrade).
Phone connects fine, although I didn't have to do any coding - module 77 was already enabled.
Got to the settings in the RCD510 to enable Bluetooth, nothing there. Reset the unit and the BT audio option came up, and was able to connect the (i)Phone (4, iOS 4.3.5) adn get streaming audio working and download the phonebook. I had to pair from the iPhone, and took a stab at the passcode (0000) as there was no option on the unit to pair, or prompt for a passcode.
I can dial and receive calls (haven't plugged the mic in yet), and whilst I have streaming audio working, I would say that A2DP is not working as it should, as I can not select tracks or skip/pause from the HU.
Now I know this was always a risk as I installed it in car with the lowline (half height) MFD.
Is there anything obvious I have missed off the bat that I could try to get it working? I have not done any extra coding at this stage other than making sure the telephone is enabled, but haven't seen anything to suggest that their is coding to enable the A2DP part of it.
                Thanks muchly,
                Al..

                • I didn't think (or perhaps a better word is 'realize') that you could skip tracks from the HU via BT Audio. I thought it worked in much the same was as those mini FM transmitters, where besides volume, all other controls were performed from the source audio device.

I've not seen any coding options to reflect otherwise, but the next place to check would be in the RNS510 settings menu, or perhaps within the IOS Settings area. At least search Google/YouTube to confirm that others can indeed control BT audio streaming from their HU.

                  • Ah, fark it
Why bother with A2DP if not with AVRCP Volkswagen?

Both my $400 alpine and pioneer bluetooth head units had it, so when cr@p comes on the radio I can switch straight to BT audio from the hu. Fail again VW...
Yes, I didnt check, but why bother...

i don't have the option to move through tracks (previous/next).

really? all i see is "Bluetooth Audio", instead of track/song name on my rns-510, when its streaming from my iphone.

                          • I knew certain BT headsets had playback controls - but it's interesting to see some users here with varying features. My car BT is only 9W3 and doesn't even have A2DP, so I guess you need (1) one of the newest versions of the VW Bluetooth & (2) a compatible phone. Or maybe it's an RSAP feature???

Thanks for that wiki link too, FGT.

                            • It's dependent on the Phone and the bluetooth module...

I'm not sure if there is a list of modules that support A2DP somewhere.
