Had mine for a week and it's a stayer. Might remove it if I tried to sell it, not sure. Get a little vibration when stopped through the brake pedal (but with all those modes you're doing you won't care the slightest - makes the car feel more racey). Bigger vibration when reversing as clutch goes in and out. But the car is so smooth and solid now. If you've got VCDS try turning down HSA a notch as well (it's under the ABS section). I also turned up the Brake assist one notch.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

no I don't have a VCDS, can you tell me where you get them, and what they do?...also what is HSA? Not sure about the brake assist, mine are pretty touchy at first brush of the pedal... my wife nearly goes through the windscreen when she hops from her XR5 into my car.09 Mk VI Golf 118TSI DSG United Grey + Sports Pack

Take a look here for VCDS - http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ary-50749.html
HSA = Hill Start Assist (brakes auto-hold when you go to accelerate on a hill - at default setting I tend to fight the brakes resulting in a jerky take-off in stop/start traffic. Turning down a setting makes this much better (auto brake comes off quicker (with less acceleration, not quicker as in time). Feature still works fine.
Yep, I thought I'd have to be crazy to make it stronger but it's only slight and actually feels very good. I don't often swap cars though so if you keep switching with the Ford then maybe good to leave as default (although you might also be able to adjust the setting in the other direction).

Just grabbed a 57s K&N Kit off ebay. Waiting for it come come this week. Hoping it won't have as many issues as the forge intake that I was running!!
Will let you all know how it goes/looksGolf MK VI Silverleaf 118TSI

Came back to this thread to ask about the s3 intercooler again. I know there are two versions: older one, 1K0 145 803P with allow end tanks and a newer one, 1K0 145 803AK or 1K0 145 803BP.
Why has Vw gone with plastic end tanks for their performance intercooler? I've heard it "flows" better but haven't seen much info as people tend to go for the alloy one. Any benefits to plastic end tanks and is the newer version better?

ok.
Have you asked the guys at ECS tuning?

Definitely get the one with the alloy end tanks. I can assure you the only reason that Audi have gone to the plastic tanks is to save money.

I'm confused really. Haven't checked ecstuning yet but I've read online that the one with the plastic end tanks flows better vs the alloy end tanks. Don't know how true this is hence why I'm asking all these questions.
Lucas_R are you saying the alloy end tank version removes more heat cuz that's what I'd be inclined to think.

The end tanks on the aluminium intercooler are a big bigger than the plastic end tank version. This would be the one to get if you were going to do it: Volkswagen Golf VI 2.0T > Engine > Intercooler > ES#9949 European S3 Intercooler - 1K0145803P
Also you might want to read this: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...let-66717.html
As an alternative, may i suggest the intercooler kit which i bought for my car, which is both larger and cheaper than the S3 intercooler you are considering: THS Copy Intercooler review and installation pictorial semi-DIY

Quick query. Has anyone else had intermittant vibration at idle. Ill have a day every now and then when the car feels like its vibrating reasonably hard when stopped in traffic. Have a manual box so I can rule out the DSG. Have had one set of plugs replaced due to misfire sept last year and now worried that its misfiring/ worse at present. Haven't had any error lights thrown as of yet.
Question being do you guys think I'm better off getting the tune removed permanently now before an error light pops up so its only a matter of removing the CAI and taking to the dealer or sit and wait and see?
Am just a little worried at present with 2 years gone in warranty and only 30 500 on the clock :SGolf MK VI Silverleaf 118TSI

Its probably just misfiring and the reason will almost certainly be a dodgy ignition coil pack. Mine were already mis-firing with only 13,000km on them so i replaced them recently.

Hoping your right Lucas. Although I would have put 10 000km on the car since having the spark plugs replaced (assuming coil packs and spark plugs are the same thing??) which is a little worrying if the plugs are going to be tat much of a consumable!!Golf MK VI Silverleaf 118TSI

Still haven't installed my S3 intercooler... I'm wondering if I should sell it now... also wondering if it will fit a Mk7 GTI... (although at the same time time part of me would want to keep it stock if I bought one).

What stopped you from installing it? I recently purchased mine and also just placed an order for Apr Carbonio 1.4 tsi intake. They recently released it and have a summer sale on things to boot.
