Bit by bit over the last year. Intercooler is a must once you tune it IMO. Holds boost longer and far less heatsoak. Definitely put in a FMIC and exhaust. The 1.4 sound pretty good for such a small capacity engine😄
Nice. APR quote 203BHP for Stage 1 so I'm wondering where the other 27BHP come from. AFAIK the FMIC prevents reduction of BHP when it's hot, and Catback is more about noise than power (downpipe is power but not much noise).
In either case you'd be annoying a few GTI owners
0-100kph would be around 6.5 seconds?
APR stage1 run 127kw on the dyno. The 11kw extra I've picked up are from S3 cooler and CAI. Because the S3 cooler has a larger volume over stock it holds more cooler dense air which gives more power. When my mates GTI was stock I would have it. I've never really timed it but it would have to be mid low 6s to 100km. My brother has a modded GTI and he was very impressed with the twincharge. He reckons I would have him from stand still to 60km/h.
Yeah I know what you mean about too much power FWD and wet roads. Especially going through roundabouts, traction control off and 2nd gear. Lol. Yeah will have to time it or video one day.
You got your FMIC installed?
ermmmm nope, not yet. Mate who wants to help out has been busy helping others, with what you could say are more important things. While it's the wet season I'm not in a rush, but think he said this weekend might be a goer (although I think it'll be a wet one again).
Drive home tonight was a crawl so jumped off the freeway early and thought I might try and liven things up by engaging Sport mode at the lights and turning off TC. Was like trying to drive on ice. Attempting to feather the throttle was pointless as it just kept redlining in 1st gear and refused to shift up, so had to go back into manual mode The reason I don't like doing quick starts in Manual mode is that I often go to shift up just as the car does it by itself, resulting in a very short shift from 2nd to 3rd.
Interesting fact, good to know. Shame I'm stuck with the older one (couldn't even find the label for it after removing the battery).
At least Brendan doesn't have any DSG low-speed niggles to worry about. I sometimes wonder whether the tune and/or SprintBooster have had an effect on the 2nd clutch.
