Yeah if you go 1.8, a bit higher compression ratio is really nice. All the 2.0l engines have reasonable compression ratios anyway because they are from the 90's, but some of the 1.8's aren't that peppy.

Found out why the motor gave way.
The sump plug must of come loose on the hwy
and no I never done a oil change on this engine,but yes I should have checked.
Doesn't help that the oil psi warning light came on after the motor failed.Comment

Hopefully in the next coupe of weeks i can at least get it running. Because of the complete engine and 02j conversion I've got a few miner set backs on the gearbox side that's obviously not a direct fit like speedo, clutch cable and reverse switch.Comment

It is just that simple Jordan.
But 02j gearboxes usually run a hydraulic clutch slave and Due to the fact it's going in a mk1 I don't really want to stuff around converting the car to suit this set up....only just for now.
I will be using a a cable operated one that's from a seat. Doing this doesn't allow me to run a reverse switch at all. So I'm going to try and come up with something to fit.
I also need to run the cable operated shifter which I excited about.
Basically in a nut shell I just would like to get everything working the way it should before I start diving, because I know I'll leave it on the back burner.Comment

Hahaha, I'll be upgrading that also with larger breaks on the front and disks on the rear.
Only cruising to the local Bowles club on the weekend Jordan.
