Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Retro spec mk1

About a little over a year or so I found a rust free, yes that's right rust free 2 door mk1 that I couldn't let go even with owning 3 at the time I purchased it I just had to have it. I put it in storage until the day comes to enhance it.

It was parked in the owners shed for over 8 years!!!! And just prior to it being parked he spent a tiny bit of cash on it like a complete engine rebuild when I say complete I mean every single thing on motor was rebuilt to factory standard, all new genuine parts including little things such a vacuum lines. powder coated all steel external parts covers,shields,booster.....list goes on......... Sadly it's only a 1.6.

So picked it up without even turning it over and winched it up on the tandem, man that was hard when the brakes had seized on.

Replacing with some small steel bars. This one's a genuine NOS rear thanks to Eric.
