Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Whoa Pete! Just goin thru this thread now too.

I have a '76 3-door identical to yours. Same colour blue, same interior, same early bonnet with non swallowtail rear (factory). It has the old forward leaning 1100 or 1300 motor - i'll check which one.

I'll make a sunday cruiser out of it and put the EV k-jet motor from my old mk2 GTI in it.

Looking good though! Got pics of the rust in the olive one?

Minor Progress, an extractor system from the UK, via Roccodingo in Perth, via Phillip Island and finally in my shed.

(Might make it to Orange too if Preeny beats me to the 16v build)

                      It's an Ashley 4 into 1 system to put a 16v motor into a MK1 RHD.

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

Small change in direction here, I'm now planning to use 16v MK2 hubs for the bigger wheel bearings, ball joint and more easily obtainable calipers etc.

MK 2 steering arms are in a lower position too meaning I shouldn't have to flip the steering rods over.

From memory the f/end geometry will be ok if your using ball joint extensions as well I think Pete...
