Got the gearbox ready, It had 100mm output flanges on it so I swapped them over for 90mm ones off another box.
The 100mm flanges took a lot to get off, had to use a set of 20 tonne pullers.
Tow hooks came back form powder coating and got installed.
Made up brackets and mounted the expansion tank.
Engine bay is starting to look pretty busy now.
Those BFI engine mounts are a joke. They seem to be made from reasonable materials but the dimensions are all wrong. The bolt hole was too small for the bolt to pass through and the whole thing is too wide.
The drivers side one is notched to clear a bolt but the notch is in the wrong place.
Don't buy them unless you've got access to a lathe and linisher to fix them.
Just had the CAMS scrutineer out to check things over and it's all smiles.
One minor technicality to do with not running bumpers, but should be able to get an exemption as its a replica, he didn't seem to think it was much of an issue.
Certainly all the safety stuff is on track to pass without issue.
Just need to put it all together to get the logboook.
It will be log booked as a sports sedan which may be a first for a MK1 Golf. Certainly to current regs at least.
