      • I had to set the welder up for heavy gauge stuff this weekend to put another jerry can holder on the trailer so I thought I'd do a bit of work on the rear beam.

Once I've finished modifying it the plan is to get it sand blasted and powder coated.

I'm not done yet, I need to find a piece of 6mm plate to make another bracket out of.

I extended the shock bases so I can mount sway bar mounts 90° rotated rather then use them as shock bolts as the designer intended.

They had to be done like that or removing the shocks would mean removing the entire sway bar every time. This way I can just undo the ends and rotate it out of the way.

Shock bolts will remain a bit fiddly, I'll have to use socket headed bolts.

        Here's some progress shots

Nope, the peloquin is still in it's box on the shelf, need to find a spare $800 to have it put in a gearbox.

I'll bear that in mind if I don't have any joy with the local steel merchant. Cheers!

Just don't have the time to learn at the moment, also need to acquire/manufacture the right tools which I also don't have the time for.

                      • Is there any advantage in moving the sway bar mount further forward so it doesn't foul the shock bolt? Looks like you've got a bit of room to play with.

I set the mounts as far back as possible for maximum leverage. I could move them forward a bit but the bar itself will still be in the way of the shock bolt.

I've now threaded those bolts all the way down and I'll cut them to length.

The mount doesn't foul the bolt as such, it just makes access to it a bit fiddly. It's further complicated by the drop towers for the diagonals.
