Yeah but if I drag with an R35 GTR in the next lane I won't be racing him, will be racing the clock. For all intensive purposes of this thread RT means nothing. IF....it was important maybe you'd think we should ad who/what we raced agains, and if we won or lost

Anyway, I really should time the 16v see what the old girl will do...Tim chime in with a guesstimation....

RT is important especially in bracket racing but at a test n tune who cares your racing yourself,

a time slip should be posted for authenticity im not sure on how the water cooled community is with making up times but when you have over 100times submitted theres always a few you think mmmm i used to moderate this page on this site http://www.redlinegti.com/qmt/
concept works and its clean and tidy easy to look at.

I think its more got to do with if your willing to launch at 4000+ and belt your clutch more than anything else.
Do that and you'll get a good time, otherwise your just going to bog down and get a poor start.

4000+ sounds steep!! im not sure if i can afford to replace the clutch yet I'll take it easy for the first couple of runs and we'll see after that

I'll go out on a limb & say it won't be that much faster than my 15.8.

But I reckon with a good launch it should run close to 15.3-5 & should consistantely have approx 90mph trap speed's.

Alittle off topic, but thought I'd share my two cent's as this subject has come up a few times now.

The funny thing is that there's people still out there who think that a mk1 & mk2 only weigh 830kg! They also think that if they strip the weight out if it, it will be mid 700's! Your kidding yourself's.

                        This is a joke.

I had my full weight old silver 5 dr mk1 with 1/2 tank of fuel & me in it & it weighed in at 1020kg. That's when I weighed 74kg's.

I'd suggest that if there anyone out there who think's there 3 dr mk1 with 100hp & alledged 800kg's is fast. Go & weigh it at your local weigh bridge.

                        You will be suprised.

I reckon it should run a mid to high 14 with trap speed's around 92-94 mph

I don't know of the mod's done, but if it's stock & with full weight

                          177kw & 1477kg's (dry) + add driver, fuel, fluid's etc.

Just out of interest. My friend ran his VS GTS making 197rwkw's. Weigh's about the same.

Ran 14.0ET MPH - Can't remember, but was approx 105-110mph.

we'll see, i'll post up the slip when i take it there.

I agree with that... Having a Mk1 <900kg's is the way to go...

My ol mans Mk1 weighs 850kg's in full race trim and he doesnt have much that isnt needed...

My Mk1 2 door 1800 16V turbo weighed in at just under 850kgs (848 to be exact) with no more than half a tank of fuel. It was fully stripped with no rear seat, no spare and with lightweight racing seats.

It made 243 kw at the wheels (more than 300kw at the fly) and with specially modified suspension to prevent lift at the front and squatting at the back ran a best of 12.34s over 400ms in 2002. And this was at 1200m above sea-level. There probably was another half a second in it at sea-level but was never tested there.

It had some problems getting cleanly off the line but made up for it once it got going.

Was quicker 40km/h - 200km/h than a 2001 R1 Yamaha bike, tried and tested this a few times against a mate on his. He was very confident beforehand and absolutely gobsmacked afterwards.

                                Pics of it here:
