MK3 Octavia - List of Defects, Faults and Issues

Anyone have their mkIII octavia cut out?
this morning whilst taking a corner the engine cut out (the auto start stop was disabled) and there was a message to manually restart the engine , which I did after I coasted around the corner.
mine is a Rs diesel,

Yikes.. Only time this has ever happened to me was years ago when the tank was nearly empty..

definitely not low fuel, 3/4 of a tank at the time

At my car's last service they did an update to the ignition system. Maybe you need it too?

No ignition system on diesels, and it's done it again whist travelling at 50km/hr, luckily no traffic around as I had to coast to a safe spot to pull over. Unfortunately the dealer I got it from can't see it until Tuesday, and the other dealer wants to charge for a loan car.

Your car has a key doesn't it? Ignition system extends beyond spark plugs & coils.

had a call from dealer, they are dispatching a tow truck to collect the car and they are providing a petrol RS wagon as a loan car, will be good to compare diesel vs petrol.

Turns out the boost pressure sensor is faulty, and of course there is none in the country, so it has to come from the Czech Republic,God only knows how long that will take

Have they queried VW spares? Distribution centre is in Singapore (I was told). Very unlikely it will come from CZ.

have been told 4-3 weeks for part to arrive, the issue apparently is not just where they are sourced from, is that because it is a warranty issue there are more processes that have to be followed against straight out ordering of parts through the spare parts channel.
so in the mean time more km being clocked up on their demo petrol RS, and for what its worth the smartlink doesn't like to connect to my phone (galaxy S5 with latest firmware) and the dealer couldn't get it to connect to his iPhone either

Smartlink? I would have thought its a MY15 or MY15.5 with mirrorlink which isn't the same as Carplay and Android Auto and smartlink. From what I know from lurking in dealers a lot recently only just arrived cars have it at the moment, ie literally just arrived. Dealers have trouble working their ways out of a wet paper bag with a chainsaw so it might be a bit beyond them. I noticed in the iOS9 update there is a one touch connect for carplay setup now. Hoping the wireless carplay gets sorted soon, having to plug in this day and age seems crazy. Also hoping its a software update to do it, otherwise my car won't have it when it's built early next year.

Mirrorlink etc is MY16 onwards - i.e cars that just arrived.

Mirrorlink.... could it be a software update for the current MY15 cars to get and it'll work? Or would you have to upgrade the whole unit? (what cost?)

Not all models have it as standard, however it is able to be activated on all MY16 vehicles. Prior to that it has been unclear whether or not it can be turnt on. However if it required replacement of the 5F control module, it will not be cheap!
