Well thanks I will try but it is ****ing irritating that AM is so ****ty on an expensive sound system.

Hi Afterdarker, see my first post above and I had a similar problem in my vRS. I played around the other day and I may have fixed the issue.

Basically the cover over the centre speaker had come loose in certain sections and it was reverberating with a high pitch during listening to AM only. I placed a finger at different places around the edges of the cover (while radio was playing) to determine where the seal was broken and then wedged a small piece of foam and the reverberation is gone.

I was scheduled to take it to the dealer later this month for the fix but if what I have done holds up, then I will cancel the visit.

I also heard from the sales guy that a couple of Octavias had the center dash speaker replaced under warranty due to rattling issues.

Unfortunately Octavia doesn't have individual equalizer/tone settings for each music source.

Thank you Lucki. Mine seems loose also, well it reverberates. Will follow your suggestion.

Dealer fix is to just insulate the speaker grille with double sided tape, anyone replacing it hasn't done their job properly. Most common faults I have come across with the Octavia 3 have been related to the 5F module in the glovebox, have had to update a few and on two occasions order a new one.

Ive got a rattle coming from the glovebox or left front vent.Very annoying starts at1500 revs till about 1800.
Is this related to the glovebox thing.

SS when you say 'dealer fix', it seems to imply that this is a common problem?

Seems to be afterdarker! More common in the VW's I was told. My dealer said they were going to remove the cover and re attach it using some sort of tape, which I wasn't sure how good might have been.

But since wedging a tiny bit of foam, I don't hear the reverberating noise anymore and I am happy with that. Will just cancel the booking with the dealer.

Could be a wiring loom mate. Get someone to drive while you sit in the passenger seat to determine the source of the rattle.

I had an annoying rattle from the dash from day 1, and I was certain it was something behind the screen. Turned out it was the interior rear view mirror/rain sensor housing that was rattling because the sound actuator was vibrating the windscreen, which in turn was vibrating the rear view mirror housing. The problem happens only during acceleration and stops when I held the mirror down.

It has stopped now but if it does come back, the plan is to wedge some rubber foam between the housing and the windscreen.

If in doubt, use the foam wedge.

disable the sound actuator while you are at it

Had a 'Check Coolant' warning on the dash this morning and upon checking the reservoir, the level was below the minimum mark. Rang the dealer and they offered a free top up whenever I could drop in.

My vRS is less than 3 months old and done just 3000KM. I'm thinking the dealer didn't do their PDI properly, considering the poor condition of paint when the car was delivered. But I am also going to keep an eye just in case there is a leak somewhere.

Anyone else had this problem? Is it normal for the coolant to run out so quickly? Thanks!
