Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The extra length means its a tad trickier already, with the shortness of the Mk2 it didn't matter so much. The poke of those machined bits on the rims though means they are all gonna be scuffed, a very light touch in mine last week ground off metal, the tyre is level with those so no protection there.
I hear what you're saying and deliberated over this for a long time. However, haven't scraped my front (since the car was lowered, did once beforehand on a ****ty bit of road in Collingwood) and have never scuffed a rim on this car in the time I've owned it. So I feel as though my awareness of the size and shape of my car will prevail.

    • I had my prior Mk2 for 7yrs and sold it with not a mark on the rims. I was so careful with it. So was doubly annoyed I hit something on the drivers side that jutted out in the dark the other week. I knew that bit was there but in pitch black and heavy rain with a person for unknown reasons standing in the middle of our office driveway all things came together to cause a nice scrub. Hopefully the only one I get.

          • Fitted my front mud flaps . Then ordered a set for the rear and the rear door sill scuff plates . Now the three week wait. The front mud flaps fitted perfectly and took about 5 mins each side . You will need a #5 torque head driver to undo the screws. Dont look out of place on the VRS in my mind.

            • That's interesting as SuperSkoda warned me several times that they don't fit on the RS or the Scout. That's for the Mk3

Sounds good alfa. Any chance you can post a pic of the front flaps fitted? Personally I thought the back flaps were the ones that were needed. I'd love to see how they both look, but I'll settle on the fronts

                  • Ok I think the problem i mentioned aboved is to do with the OBD11 being plugged in to the car. U is to do with the communications bus.
Photos below of front mud flaps from super skoda.

Hope you didn't make the same mistake with the rear sill scuff plates as I did. At some point early this year/late last year, the design of the front sill plates changed (still can't fathom why Skoda don't just fit scuff plates to the rear sills ex-factory, not to mention why they only cover half the sill on the Mk 3).
The front scuff plates on my 03/16 build car don't have the black plastic base anymore, like the earlier builds do. The SuperSkoda rear sill plates do of course, have the black plastic bases and I didn't quite realise this until I actually had them in my hand to go and fit them last weekend. D'oh! Should've gone to that well known optometrist...

                          • Got TMC working today with the OBD eleven. Works a treat, I like the way the sat nav shows the number on the map for the update. Tap the number and it takes you to the alert.

                            • I finally jimmied open the passenger seat storage box on my newish wagon to mind a decent first aid kit.
Put it in the boot space where it belongs & now the storage box opens & shuts like it should.

                              • Modified my left rear wheel on one of those stupid, unnecessary slabs of concrete that the single celled lifeforms who design and build car parks seem to enjoy putting all over the place...
