Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        Yep thats the one
It's been tuned and has an aftermarket rear Sway bar, Downpipe and intake, it handles brilliantly and has plenty of pep. I'm actually keen on it if they ever sell would make an awesome daily/track car. then I can retire the mk3 golf lol

I must say I'm really interested to know how this all goes, even though I can't see myself doing much if anything like this myself

Do you know for sure that that swaybar fits the Mk3 Octavia Wagon? I'm not saying it doesn't, it's just that I looked for models specifically for the Mk3 and couldn't find one. Also, would love to hear what the dogbone insert feels like. Any particular reason that you didn't go for the very popular one from 034?

If its anything like the Mk5/6 Golf and Mk2 Octavia (PQ35) then anything for the FWD MQB platform should fit, fine.

That's kind of what I mean - there are a lot of sway bars (I prefer the UK term anti-roll bar ) that say compatible with the Mk2 Octavia, but none mention the Mk3.

Try looking at Mk7 Golf instead of Mk5/Mk6 Golf.

                • Mysticality is correct I purchased a Mk7 Golf GTI sway bar/ Anti Roll Bar it fits fine as you can see from the pic I have a wagon and the bar is for a hatch but they identical just the new one is thicker. Beauty of VAG is that you can dip into various parts bins
My mechanic took the car for a spin after fitting and said difference is night and day. it's adjustable too and has it set to firm which is what I like I'm keen to test it for myself and see the difference. I still need to fit my Eibach springs which should yield further improvements to handling.

                      • And this should be reason enough to upgrade your intercooler. Look at the difference!

At this point Mechanic/ tuner is having more fun with the car. he took it for a spin after intercooler swap and says car is savage! he's said to start putting $$$ away for my clutch and LSD now as I'll need it

After more Mucking around with dyno bookings. Car is finally getting done.
                              Car Engine Mods:
Milltek TBE, CTS intake and Intercooler, GFB DV+

                              With Viezu stage 2 tune
car currently made 215KW = 288 HP at the wheels 4th gear run.
There's a decent surge between 2500 - 3500 before levelling out and becoming more linear.

                              Next:
car is currently being flashed back to stock map to run again as a benchmark
Then we'll be flashing the E-tuners Stage 2 map for comparison.
Then its off to get IS38, Denso Plugs Fitted and remapped with E-tuners IS38 Map and back at the dyno this evening for IS38 power run.
We currently have 2x IS38 maps their aggressive map and a milder version if clutch can't handle it.
If we need to use the milder tune, I'll retune again once I do the clutch with something better.
