  • I double checked mine yesterday and there is no dead pixel. Even opened the same doors to make sure. That sucks you both got a dead pixel, but if it's only on one screen, sounds more like a 'stuck' pixel rather than completely dead.

    • Noticed my coolant levels have dropped a bit, not too much of an issue, will chase it up with the dealer along with getting extra wheel nut covers which were missing or fallen off when i first took delivery of the car. Those things seem rarer than the cars themselves! Its been three months since i raised it with the dealer and still waiting!

      • Coolant level dropping is quite common, a car being driven can burp out bubbles caught in the system.

Should also check it's not the water pump, as there have been a few reports on briskoda on failed/leaking water pumps. Just have a look around with a torch to make sure there are no leaks. But bubble in coolant system is more likely

        • Car has 6500km with no temperature issues or anything, i doubt its a failed water pump.

          • Doesn't have to be failed to leak. 5 mind with a torch should confirm it though. Like I said, most likely a bubble in the system has been burped out

            • I noticed similar thing about my coolant when i took delivery of my car. As soon as i unscrew the coolant lid the level went back to above minimum, with a slight pop.

              • Also keep an eye on oil, mine had a low oil alarm at 7000. Topped up and fine since.

                • Got that one too. Top up just before first service. All good since then. Seems like they only load the car with minimum fluid.

Why does this appear to be a surprise to people?

Any new engine will use oil on run-in. The owners manual is quite specific about regularly checking the oil level.

Don't rely on the low oil sensor as there is a chance it's been coded out - and if you get that low it's probably already starting to do slight damage.

                    • Mine seems to be fine regarding the oil level. I check it weekly.

                      • Turbo cars do tend to use a little oil too, and the pcv on vw cars is known to be **** (causing oil consumption). My first rs used a little in run in (few hundred ml) but didn't seem to use any after that. I've kept a close eye on the oil level in the new one, but it hasn't budged from where the dealer delivered it (slightly below full).

No surprise, but not every engine loses that much oil during run in and the 15000km service interval makes the problem more likely.

                          • They would probably benefit from a 3000k inspection/top up as that's where most consumption normally happens.

Either way, I check all the fluids and tyres once a week when I wash the car. Only takes 5 mins, and means I normally get lots of ks from tyres, and never have low oil issues.

Murphy's Law says that the more you check your oil, the less likely it is for the tide to go out.
