Forgot to mention an interesting fact when i picked my car up. It came with no log book :S Dealer said since MY15, service places are all going digital so i was given a folder of sorts where the receipts would be placed into. Considering i have no plans to get it serviced at Skoda i asked him about my predicament upon taking it to an independent for servicing. He didn't know what to say to that and promptly went and got a log book from a MY14 car.

Its good they gave you a service book knowing you weren't going to service with them. that's a good dealer!

I was told the same thing. No service book. My dealer said that they would keep a record of my servicing and I could get a print out if I wished.

So if you get the vehicle serviced at multiple dealerships - including VW or Audi - can you get the complete service history from an individual dealer?

And how does this work in with VWs privacy policy? Most places these days won't give info on anything as it contravenes privacy rules.

i think that what will happen is that the receipts will become a defacto service book as proof of work being done.

My wife took delivery of her Octavia at the start of May and I got mine at the start of June and the Welcome Packs both turned up together last week.

Forgot to mention that I gor two copies of the Octavia hard cover book as well. You don't often see a hard cover advertising brochure showing all the features which you have already discovered in the three months before it arrived.

Just an update: I had mentioned in an earlier post that my DSG was jerky in normal mode. This has now disappeared after 3,000 km and I'm now quite happy with the smoothness of the transmission in normal mode. Guess its a matter of the computer learning driving style.

Took me a little time to work out the difference between ACC, City Emergency Braking and Front Assist etc I'm still not 100% but this is what I've found.

The Octavia has three Assistant based systems. Radar Based Assistants, Camera based Assistants and Sensor Based Assistants.

In Australia we get
1. Radar Assistants: Front Assistant and Adaptive Cruise Assistant and
2. Sensor Based Assistants: Crew Protect Assistant and Driver Activity Assistant
but not 3. Camera Based Assistants: Lane Assistant, Intelligent Light Assistant and Traffic Sign Recognition.

City Emergency Braking is a function of Front Assist (not ACC) and operates between 5 and 34km/h.
