Skoda's choice of leaving out the blind-spot mirrors is a negative for me. Work so well on my mum's Jetta or brother's GTI.

Nice review PassatB6. Good to see some owners who have had theirs for a while give some feedback. Did you come from a car with xenon's, or are these your first?

Had them in my 2006 Passat but these are way better. My last car , a Scout didn't have them.

That's interesting, I found the Xenon on Octavia is not as bright (intense) and widespread as the one in Tiguan or Merc. One way of testing it is by switching on the fog light, on Tiguan or Merc, there is no difference in light output when the fog light is on, it's to the point that you can't tell the fog light is on. The octavia on the other hand, switching on the fog lights made a considerable difference on the light output (filled the space closer to the car and wider beam), and the fog light on the octavia is not even that bright.

Yes, the fog light does fill the gap closer to the car with a yellow light but main beam is very white and more intense. In the Tig at least the lights are higher up and might be adjusted to cover a greater area?? I find the Occy lights much whiter and far better than my last 2 cars. The spread is fine for me though my last Xenons were in 2006 while the current model has AFS II so maybe I'm simply noticing the difference in technology over time.

Thanks for the observation. In the Tig, the light output is a lot more intense and white and yes wider. The light output on the Octavia feels light weight compare to the better system. Nevertheless, I will be purchasing an upgrade bulb and see how this will compare.

While i love my new RS i have a certain gripe with it. Put the lever in sport and off she goes, but when it comes to putting it back to drive i have to select normal mode via the VRS mode button. Why couldn't they leave it as it was with a separate gear selection for D and S?

If you pull back again on the lever it will toggle back to D again

My Elegance switches between sport and drive or eco and drive, depending what mode you are in, using only the gear lever.

103 TSI manual. First thing in the morning the first hundred metres out of my garage along the back lane are in 1st gear and progress on a steady throttle is quite jerky. Mornings have been 5 to 10 degrees but once I am on the road and have revved through a couple of changes and 300 metres to the first junction then things are fine for the rest of the day no matter how long it is left (temperature is warmer then).
                                Anyone else experiencing this?
