      • Hi Mike,

I'm a bit confused by the lack of lighting. I have an MY16 Style with Tech and Comfort packs and it has footwell lights for both front, also the little LED's near the map lights that give a nice ambient glow, there are also puddle lights in the mirrors. Am I missing something?

        Cheers,
        Karl

There is also a very distinct lack of interior ambient lighting, and I miss it greatly as my 04 A8 has both led mood lighting with customisable options for it. Made the interior feel very special at night.

Has anyone locally tried adding footwell lamps or ambient lighting to the doors?

The other thing is, my kessy system managed to lock itself with the key in the boot in my bag. I have the power tailgate and it is meant to pop itself back open (I haven't been able to repeat this self locking). It was a real problem!

        Anyone else have this occur?

        • Theres no footwell lighting in my M17 Octy RS. Something i have on order and awaiting delivery on. It's quite sad really that top spec fully optioned car doesn't have.

          • Hmm well I guess given that I could've bought a petrol RS for the same price as my car with the same packs there may be some slight extra luxury on the Style. Prefer the seats over the RS anyway

I have the spot lamps and the lights under the mirrors, but no footwell lamps or any lighting on the doors apart from little led's behind the interior handles.

I realise my A8 was a different market, but still, the mood lighting in the A8 made the interior really special at night.

I will be adding footwell lamps and mood lighting in the coming month. It should be very easy to do.

Sometimes I just wait about 10 sec and press it again as otherwise it will just keep beeping each time I try.
This is getting worse actually, and today realised there is no rhyme or reason for it. I can hear things trying to move or whirl in the struts when it does it as well. Makes me think something is awry in the struts and they are slipping and thinking there is an obstruction. The beep may be it thinking something is stopping it. Another thing to stick on the first service list.

                  • I have no trouble finding my feet in the footwells at night!

But yes my brother's GTI has LED interior lights, footwells, ambient lighting - povo big brother (me) has basic incandescent bulbs, just because I need a wagon

                    • Anyone had oil leaking from their powered tailgate struts on their mk3?

I know it's a fairly common problem from reading Briskoda, but most of the issues seemed to be a couple of years ago. My car was built a year ago and delivered in October.
Do the dealers replace them just because of oil leaks, or only when they actually fail to hold the tailgate up? Mine's working fine, but I think the oil only appeared in the last couple of days (colder weather?).

Mine are leaking as well. I pointed it out at my service last week and to my surprise they have ordered a set to replace them without a drama. Was half expecting the old "it's not bad enough" or "that's exceptable leakage" like iv had on other cars.

                        • I've had oil since day 1 you can see when they go up and down. Didn't know if it was supposed to be like that, but the dealers never said anything. It hasn't been opening though when I tell it too, takes a few goes, and in Feb it sagged and hit me in the head on a steep driveway. Getting its first service today so will see what they say.

                          • I had mine replaced 2 weeks ago for this same issue - also would not hold open on a slope
They did mention they have a replaced a few sets to me (I used to work with one of the service advisors so they will tell me a little more than usual

                            • Well nothing really extra from the service was done, its all pending with Skoda HQ, but also noticed a fair bit of oil on the plastic shield down under the belts etc so not sure what happened there. They just reset the struts, but I said did they happen to test they sag on slopes and there is oil all over them. So we went back outside and he looked pretty annoyed. I get the feeling my car was left until just before I got there as it was just the easy 12mths service and the apprentice made a rush job of it. This was testing out the new owners of an inner Melb dealer so hasn't gone so well really.

                              • Poor Traction control

Has anyone else found the traction control rather lacking? It's about as subtle as being slapping in the face with a wet fish on my Octavia and about the same on my wife's Golf. Maybe it's just a diesel thing? Seriously hampers and rapid take off from standstill as the traction control seems to cut all power momentarily if it senses any wheel spin. Maybe I'm spoilt but I've had far better traction control on a 2008 Ford G6E Turbo which would reduce not cut power and allow a controlled amount of wheelspin, never too intrusive even in the wet.

                                Cheers,
