OCTAVIA III Owners discussion thread

Only to find cars built a month later got lane assist.

I wasn't aware that lane assist was available on the Octavia range (even as a option) since we don't have a camera in the rear-view mirror

1) - Cornering front fog lights, I'm guessing it a factory option, but this can be done via a VCDS I believe? Worth turning on?

2) - Canton sound system (Includes digital equaliser and 10 speakers including subwoofer in boot), Has anyone heard both? I would hope the Canton is better, but much better?

3) - Columbus satellite navigation system, Standard is Amundsen, Is there much difference?

4)- Front assist, This is slow speed braking (anti crash) type of thing? (eg Ford city stop)

5) - Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Worth while?

6)- Intelligent light assistant with high beam control, I think this would be good.

7)- KESSY - Keyless entry and start system, Worth it?

7) Must have. Best thing ever. If you get a wagon make sure you get electric tailgate if available.

Guys on the forum are reporting they have the camera and lane assist as part of the tech pack now. Seems to be on cars built around feb onwards from all accounts.

As for the sat Nav all Aus spec vRS come with the larger 8" Columbus (from now on at least. Not sure about the early mk3) So if the 230 does come I would bet on it having Columbus as well.
The U.K. Brochures won't be much help as there are so many more options for them like the false boot the golf wagon has and the safety screen ect.
Our cars are very much set. With the option of tech, comfort and 2 black packs. Leather by it self. Sunroof and auto boot.

Yes having a Non-Aus Doc does not help from what you guys are saying.

I asked in April. I also tried to get a vrs (220) in rally green and was told no as well. Then when I picked up my car in May they had a Fabia in rally green with a black roof and a black one with white wheels and roof. I made comment about how the Fabia was rally green and how you get more color combinations with the Fabia. I was then told they where special order and you just had to ask if you wanted something different. Needless to say I splinted. Don't get me wrong I'm happy with white but when your told no and everyone else gets yes it's frustrating and poor business.

The lane camera coming early was a strange thing normally it's jan when they do that, so I was half expecting to see it. Not losing sleep as I really wanted CarPlay wireless to appear but seems no one has set that up in cars yet despite it releasing in Aug. I doubt it will be a software update we see either as VAG are hopeless with that.

Special order? They are on the configurator as a colour option for the Fabia

In the new 2017 model year, ŠKODA is offering adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) for the ŠKODA OCTAVIAs with engines of a power output starting from 110 kW (150 PS). This provides a more varied driving experience – DCC makes it possible to adapt the steering and suspension depending on whether the Comfort, Normal and Sport mode has been selected. DCC is also available in the ŠKODA OCTAVIA RS and ŠKODA OCTAVIA RS 230, where its functions include a more comfortable set-up for everyday driving at the push of a button.

The optional ŠKODA Phonebox with wireless charging connects a smartphone to the car antenna by near-field coupling without the need for a cable, thus offering high call quality and best data reception. I test drove a Golf GTI (all Golf from GTI up have it) and really liked it. The main thing that put me off getting an RS Octavia was the harsh ride, in the Golf on Comfort setting it still handled well but was probably even smoother than my Octavia Style. Definitely worth having.

It's funny... When I asked about adaptive chassis control (because at the time I was buying my MY15 RS the brochure said it had it).. People here told me it was a gimmick but the above is exactly the reason I wanted it... Having said that, having driven the RS without it for a year the ride isn't as hard as the test drives left me thinking it was, so I don't miss it.

I spied something there that said it was going to be 50k. If that's the case they are wishful or hoping people don't realise they don't have as much difference as the Golf P. We already have the bigger brakes and the electronic Diff. Although I spied in the UK that the diesel RS are coming with the smaller brakes now.....I was planning on getting one, but after they didn't even show last year or even really this year it was getting ridiculous.

Yea I agree woofy, But we need more space (wagon), love a manual and we missed out on a Steel Grey RS Wagon a couple of months ago (1% deal and all). So thought we would wait for this one to turn up, we in no rush.

That's OK I stupidly ordered in Aug, had it here and technically eligible for the 1% and was denied it. The offered to pay the difference between the extended warranty and the care pack to get the servicing. Was denied that. Picked up my car and saw my dealer were doing a promo as they were relocating up the road to give everyone 3 yrs servicing for the drama. Was really happy to find out that when I offered to pay for it and was knocked back. There are rumours that only the sedan will come here so you would want to find out pretty quickly whether that is true if you want a wagon as the wait will be 6mths whatever comes, although anything built now will be MY17.
