Haha the panoramic sunroof does look nice. It better be all worth the wait and ..judging by people's experiences..hopefully no surprises such as car shows up with no sunroof or something. :|

With regard to the Wheels magazine issues, since they were complaining about the ride quality of the base Octavia then it would have had the 16 inch steel wheels which should have theoretically have supplied the most compliant ride. Really odd since GTR27 has got something like 18 inch on his and seems happy enough to be contemplating 19 inch.

Even in my FL VRS, I notice that the pressurisation of the cabin is different to other cars (I have f***** inner ears), the wagon is definitely loud and boomy. Its an ongoing Skoda problem IMO (like Mazdas have terrible road noise). I have to chew gum going over the blue mountains. Something I don't need to do in other cars.

I test drove an Ambition Plus 2 weeks ago and come away unimpressed by the drive. The boom was there and it had plenty of road noise. I drove it back to back with a Superb Ambition and bought that for a couple of grand more and it was delivered the next week. Preparation? Tyres? Personal opinion? I dunno. As long as you are happy with it, who cares?

From a family practicality standpoint, I don't think anything else compares at the price points of the Octavia (or the Superb). I looked at all the options, and with a young family, load space is king and nothing in that price bracket comes close. Really you are looking at a Commodore wagon or Territory or an SUV. And there is a 20%+ price difference.

Thanks to you GTR..... This post resonated (scuse the pun) with me. With 3 months to run on the lease of my SSV wagon I've been in a quandary as to what to replace it with.

The car was a factory order sale that fell through due to loss of job I was told. Had 19" BP on it originally but the wheels were swapped out for another car/buyer last week. Currently has stock RS wheels on it (hence no external pics in the ad) but will be replaced with 18" BP wheels for me. Spec is:
Manual RS wagon, moon white metallic, auto tailgate, leather, panoramic roof, 18" black pack, towbar, mudflaps, 2yr extended factory warranty.

Will get it in Jan sometime when I sort new finance out which gives me a little time to sell the SSV privately (hopefully).
Heads up for those waiting for delivery, you can grab the extended warranty for $1K prior to 31 Dec. It comes 'free' with the current 2.8% skoda finance offer which is not available on the RS which the dealers weren't happy about so they are allowing them to sell the warranty cheaper (or so I was told!)

Anyone after a manual wagon solitaire adelaide have just received a black one with black pack and Canton. Will have silver wheels on it soon[emoji12]

A mate has a manual ssv wagon, it's a great car. If they used the same fuel as a rs, and had 4cyl Rego, they would be awesome! (We pay on cyl count in qld...)

Can someone explain to me what this acoustic boom is? Even the reviews that mention it don't explain what it is.

Only affects certain cars. There are two problems. One relating to the shocks at the rear and the other has something to do with the bumpers for the rear tail gate, and how the boot shuts and is secured.

I initially noticed that pressure effect. In our case tied to the rear hatch door. I think it has lessened over time so I have not tried to adjust the bump stops. I can still detect it occasionally but most passengers do not. Not a big deal overall.

It is either due to hatch door sealing too tight or the car not being able to vent naturally any pressure build up or both
