New Octavia ....when? How Much?

I don't think there is a issue with the 6 months for an rs. All dealers I visited clearly said they would be at least that long. However all the dealers also said it was 3-4 months for a normal variant. If they had said 6 months I would have bargained harder or investigated alternatives (new in that price range there really is none). I don't mind there being a wait, I knew there was one when I signed. I dislike being deceived about the wait. Have emailed the dealer to clarify though, so who knows maybe I will get it close to that promise.

I don't think you were deceived, the dealers really have NFI, if you look back through the years Skoda has been here, this happens every year. The difference is that normally they had stock, factory orders were always a throw of the dice, colours have had issues, sunroofs have caused delays...you name it, it's happened. The problem is that the factories can't keep up with demand.

MJKooLio Demand is actually pretty hectic for Skoda and pretty much always Demand has been greater than supply....they are huge in Europe, the average German prefers them to VW which is saying something. They aren't big here due to VW and the odd styling the Mk2 had in some ways. The Mk3 is a completely different story and I'm seeing a lot more evidence of sales of the other variants and not just the RS this time around. Had there been a car show in Melb or Syd still I think the Skoda stand would have been flooded.

Touched base with my dealer again and they re-iterated the July eta for build, but there was another interesting tidbit was that skoda said they're not allowed do up any new orders for the RS 'til August. It seems all the RS orders for my dealer have the tech pack option, perhaps Skoda AU underestimated the demand for tech packs?

I'm not surprised, it gives it a clear advantage over the GTI and still comes out cheaper.

When was the last time you were in Czech Republic, Austria, Germany or the UK? Skodas everywhere. Skoda sell more than 900,000 cars per year & about 1/3 of them are Octavias. To put it in perspective, the total AU market is about 1 million units per annum

I received a call from the dealer, who confirmed what everyone here has said. Tech pack (all models) demand (and subsequent low availability - specifically acc) has caused an issue with production, but he believes mine will be july build. So will be a month or so later than discussed. Happy that he at least returns calls, and he finds it amazing that we (forums) can get info before he can as he says he was only just advised about the issues.

As a note, he said that skoda pulled the rs advertising as the additional demand it created just resulted in pissed off people, rather than more orders.

if skoda pulled out oz, they ain't gonna b phased the least bit as it would hardly make a scratch/dent on their overall global sales margins.

skoda produced 962,023 units in 2012.
in 2013, that figure was 964,068 units.

the number of units sold in oz doesn't even blip on their radar!!

I get press released from Skoda so I know the figures but didn't think it was a lot compared to just VW world wide and others like Toyota and GM/Ford.


But am very pleased there is a demand for the car and not so many on the roads in Aus as is rather drive something niche and exclusive rather than everyone having one. Hence my Polo GTI

And now RS Octavia when it arrives a month late no rush guys

Gave my dealer a ring today as I hadn't heard from him since I ordered our vRS and he said he was hoping to find out when the build date would be by Monday.
A mate of mine has just bought a vRS off the floor so it doesn't have any extra fruit. He has the same colour we are getting so it will only be the Black Pack we are getting that will let us tell the difference in the car park
He has traded in his Audi A6 3.0 diesel and is very happy with the Octavia. you do hear the road noise in the Octavia more than the A6 so I'm looking at installing Dynamat or similar when it arrives

Yeah it was a fairly big campaign when it come out and now the ad has dropped off the radar recently. Looks like sales could go really well once Europe is done hogging all the cars!

Alto Skoda has a new sign in window stating "Octavia RS is here" (or words to that effect). They haven't had one to drive since they sold their first demo within a week of it arriving. It sat in the window a while but now they don't even have one on the lot.

Not particularly surprised. I managed to sit in the Blue RS Wagon when they were released and that was it.

It is better than it was about 10 months ago. They had a Caprice sitting in the showroom - and a couple of Fabias. No Superbs and no Octavias. I think they had 1 77TSI Yeti.

Barbagallo in Perth when I went in and possibly still now have had four to six on the floor with one leaving the day I popped in for a hello... Maybe they're selling non ordered/shipped versions off the floor

I think the RS wagon looks best in silver but my last car was a silver Subaru wagon so I just wanted something different this time. That said, if it turned up in silver in error I'd take it home and not be disappointed.
