I've been hoping to buy an MY12 VRS TDI Wagon but the last few around are still 35K+ on carsales.
now i've seen these beauties wow. the ULP vs Diesel economy figures aren't that much different to justify the extra cost on the new model.
So now I'm thinking petrol wagon maybe 6MT, I wonder what the driveaway price will be ~$40 k and I'm in and will get 2014 build.
Yipee!
Is the new model much sportier to drive with a few extra KW or is it heavier too so it balances out compared to the current vrs?
Having driven the new vRS last night i can confirm it certainly feels faster than the old one (have driven plenty of the outgoing model in vRS guise). More so the extra torque of the revised engine is what you can feel - it's a swift car.
Not so, I was at Richmond Skoda this morning, and saw several sales in the space of about 10min. They were overwhelmed with test drives and one guy bought both an RS and an elegance. The RS wagon had lines of people waiting to drive it, the RS sedan was a bit more quiet, but both are very good cars. Just that size of the headunit screen is enormous. The sales guys didn't realise both their demos had tiny space saver wheels in them......I don't think that is a long term thing, there was heaps of room for the full spare, probably just an oversight with the first batch. Saw the blue today as well, I think I will be getting that again. Not so impressed with the non movable headrest on the RS as I'm tall but the rest was pretty nice. The material part is a lot better than the stuff used in the Mk2. I didn't drive one as there were lots waiting and its bad enough waiting another year before ordering one, If I had driven it I know I would spend every waking moment trying to work out how to get one earlier. The extra rear legroom in all of them is worth noting.
Went in for another look. Anyone got the official word on the price of the tech pack? I was told $3300 (same as elegance), but that really can't be true considering the RS has Xenons and a few more things standard and only adds Reversing Camera...
