I'm wanting to order the RS Combi in Grey or Gun Metal Grey. I want it to come with the RS button AND the flat bottom steering wheel. Will order glass roof and auto boot open/close and Grey stitching!

Now, when should I go to the dealer here in Aus to make sure I get the RS button and flat bottom steering wheel?

Is the flat bottom wheel confirmed as a my15 change? Anything else? I know at Geneva this was shown but does that make it fact?

I thought anything built from June onward would be MY15 so assuming you have missed build week 22, and I think you have, the next block for Aus builds would surely have to be after June IMHO.

Anyone looking at an Octavia RS could do worse than shopping on the Central Coast. Some Sydney dealers didn't want to budge an inch from retail. I've done much better. These guys really wanted my business and I'm happy to give it to them.

Deposit down. Race Blue. Leather. Tech Pack. Auto tailgate. 18" Black Pack. 162TSI manual wagon.

6 months in a $1200 Corolla to fill the gap should help me appreciate it.... The Octavia RS beats a GTI (owned a MkV previously), new WRX (pig to drive in manual, much better in auto but head room too small in premium pack with sunroof), Renault GT220 wagon (availability of a demo poor), Mercedes A250 (poor value in comparison and too sanitized to drive) and also drive a Commodore (mediocrity), Cruze SRi-V (7/10 the car at 6/10 the price but controls all too light), Kia Pro-Cee'd GT, Hyundai Veloster (too small), and even a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Nice, i'm rocking a VR Commodore in the meantime haha. Was told September delivery, how about yourself?

Wow didn't know others were in a similar situation to me, I've been sporting my mums VX II since the Polo went!

September is a safe date, but I'm hoping for August. It really depends how quickly it gets on the boat.

Commodore was a hand me down once my mum upgraded to a Jetta, can't complain though 500k kilometers and hasn't missed a beat. Hopefully the RS continues the tradition. I'm hoping for August too, will be certainly bugging my dealer about a VIN number come June.

I'm about to put an offer on an Ambition plus wagon with tech pack and boot opener and have been quoted RRP $34,830
Would an offer of $32,000 be considered to cheeky to begin with?
I've never negotiated on a new car before so not sure on margins etc

Seems like it should be - seems difficult to believe that they wouldn't standardise features in the Tech pack - wondering if it will be a MY15 change that they don't want to publicise so it makes it difficult to sell other models in stock or on their way now without the camera ? (doesn't matter for RS customers as there are none available with the Tech pack until June production anyway). I would like to know too !

I'd go for it. After all its your money. The worse thing that'll happen is you get refused.

$32000 would be my absolute maximum price.

Unfortunately your profile just says Australia so I have no idea if you have a choice of dealerships to negotiate with.

I'm also assuming you are doing a straight buy & not confusing the issue witha trade-in

Thanks for the reply, we are based in Newcastle and not doing a trade in, there are a couple of Skoda dealerships near by, otherwise we can go to Sydney

Kwicks has already said that Central Coast Skoda will do a deal and want your business.

If you know exactly what you want you can do the bulk of the hard work over the phone.

I guess the question is, what price would *you* consider fair value. I paid $30k for my 118tsi M6 Elegance sedan with no options back in 2008. They gave me $12700 trade on a car I'd paid $14k for 18months earlier (and added 25k km to it). I thought it was a pretty good deal at the time & consider it a bargain now that I've had the car for almost 6 years.
