  • Metal grey looks interesting, not sure if its more of a sleeper colour or a sinister, menacing one personally.

Brilliant silver is a nice unassuming colour for those wnating to fly under the radar.

        • I downloaded a brochure from here which indicated there was a camera option but the one I downloaded from skoda.com.au doesn't seem to show the option.

EDIT: Just put a deposit down on a CW TSI DSG Wagon with (18' Black Pack, Auto Tailgate, Alarm and Canton) for 42k driveaway. Now to twiddle my thumbs for 6 or so months.

I work that out at just over 8.5% off the retail - well done !

Thanks. Had another dealer not budge one bit from retail price!

                • Excellent price. I have something to shoot for. How hard was the negotiation process? Also are they a multi franchise dealer?

Like I said one dealer wouldn't budge, so it pays to shop around if you can. Wasn't too bad, some back and forth as usual. Was a multi franchise dealer.

Who was the non-budger so people don't waste their time going there?

Multi franchise & western Sydney? NMG out at Penrith or the bunch on Narellan Rd near Camden?

Nah wasn't that far west. Don't want to name and shame because i was treated well there. Got to see their demo before they put it on the showroom floor and was kept in the loop when the rs was announced, its just it was a pitty they wouldn't offer me a good deal.

                          • If you aren't West of the Hume, you aren't really Western Sydney.
I think they even classify Parramatta as the Inner West these days ;-p

                              • I popped by the Skoda dealership in the City earlier. It was also a multi-franchise dealership.

I was just quoted the list price but I did ask him if he'd take my decently spec-ed Tiguan July 2012 155TSI with 17k on the clock as a direct swap. The sales person wasn't too optimistic so guess that's out unless I am willing to sell it on my own but I've never done that before.

What I liked about the new RS petrol DSG wagon.

You can get RVC on it (vs the regular Octavia range). Not sure if it is the regular RVC or RVC+ with the dynamic lines that track the steering wheel position.

I like that the seats are unique to the RS. The GTI seats on the Mk7 look pretty much the same as the regular Golf (just with stitching to differentiate). I remember the old Mk V GTI seats were unique/sportier looking than regular Golf

I like that it comes with pretty much everything loaded and still costs less than a base model GTI that needs every other option ticked. Bixenon - check. LED tail lights - check. LED DRL - check. 8" Discover Pro equivalent - check.

It does lack the option for the Performance Pack and the Adaptive Chassis Control though but I think I can live with just the Sports Suspension in Brisbane.

I like the roll away rear shelf vs the tray shelf in the Golf - which I often find is in the way of large luggage pieces or when I am in IKEA. This roll away shelf seems very easy to get out of the way without taking up space in the cabin.

I love the huge boot space even compared to my Tiguan.

I like the automatic tail gate feature though I wish they had included the "sweep feet under boot to open" feature which is getting more common these days.

I like that the mats and the double sided boot mat was included in the car - no need to negotiate for that. The double sided (carpet on one side and rubber on the other) was also better thought out than on my Tiguan - which you had to choose one or the other.

What I didn't like - no motorised retractable side mirrors like on the Octavia Elegance. Silly really.

And the Tech Pack was still the same price as the Elegance - even though RS already included a number of items on the Elegance including the 1750 bixenons, and just adds the reverse camera which is at most half that. Unless they decide to add the side mirror in the Tech Pack as well.
