  • EA888 is 3rd gen. Has some fancy things happening up in the inlets & outlets. I also assume it has additional injectors in the inlet manifold to reduce inlet carbon fouling.

I'd love to know if some of the tech can be retrofitted to the Gen1 EA888.

Diesel has gone to water/air intercooler by the looks of it.

Around the same price as the RS and there's a conundrum... How much do I want that extra ride height and AWD.

          • Looks like it was stolen & hidden in a grotty warehouse.

            • Yes i think thats their grotty old warehouse where they store the cars they cannot fit onto the yard/showroom. it just arrived today, so it needs to be pre-delivered and registered etc and will be on the yard for the weekend. I might go and take it for a spin.

EDIT - fixed pics (bigger now).

I only got to drive the DSG Petrol Liftback in hilly Hamilton where there is a tonne of traffic calming. It corners well and handles speed bumps without issue, bit of wheel spin when setting off at T intersections but still quite fast. One thing I missed was the sound of the engine, its very quiet in there without the sound generator (which I quite liked in my old Polo GTI). The progressive steering felt great and adjusted very well, the weight was nice considering there is no drive mode in these ones. Also happy to see it gets the quick release handle to make the seats fold down, real time saver.

I'm going to be test driving it again Saturday with friends, so I'll see if I can get on the highways with lighter traffic.

The steel grey looks interesting in person, and is hard to get right in photos. The race blue is really quite nice too though, its a tricky choice between the two!

                  • Based on those pics I'd have to go blue. The grey really needs the black pack treatment.

I do like the grey but adding the optional chrome window surrounds has made it worse than standard IMHO. If I do order one and go grey, I will be selecting the black pack...

                          • Awesome pictures!

I'm in the NT and have been annoying the dealer.. there aren't even normal Octavia's in the yard (shared dealership).. Frustrating!

readerr0r.. are you ordering an after April build or just buying ASAP? Also, in the photo of the exhaust, is it moulded to the tip or is it just a 'cut out' like other vehicles? It's hard to tell in the photo.

I'm looking at a white wagon with tech and black pack (if I can convince SWMBO), petrol / DSG combo. I'm hoping for a June delivery but will be in Canberra area next week to actually see one in the flesh. Excited!

                            • Also, I have just noticed NZ have the grey inserts on the seat where as we have the red. Any one know if it's an option to swap to grey?

                                Red only here

The real exhausts are sitting behind the body exhausts separately. They're not as bad as most models (ie the Suzuki kizashi)

I'll be factory ordering as I want the black pack.
