  • Hi.
Any updates from those who've already ordered a diesel wagon?
I'm interested in the 2.0L TDI wagon, with pana sunroof.
Does the sunroof add wait time, too?
    Thanks.

    • I think like most Skoda produc, there are lots of lookers & not too many buyers.

Yeah, well, when dealers warn you it's a "long wait" on wagons, no TDI's available to test drive, doesn't encourage you to buy.
I'm not going to buy a car, then wait 4-5 months for delivery.

        • Yeah that long wait was a deterrent for me too. Ended up buying a low km Superb in the end, very Happy with it.

          • It is a bit of a worry that they haven't loaded up any new RS models on any boats since late december...

            • There must be demo TDIs, there are a few on car sales. Very happy with mine but they really stuffed up not having cars ready to sell.

This is Switzerland. I don't want to look to closely because a man with dark skin looking into other people's cars will probably result in a call to the riot police!

But I have stopped and snapped a few on my phone.

                • That's a shame if Skoda can't get local stock, lots of spur of the moment purchases would sour pretty quickly and plenty of people do salary packaging where delivery is a financial imperative (I had a friend cancel his VW Passat order because the dealer stuffed up the delivery date estimation).

For mine, if the dealer said it was going to be 5-6 months, I probably wouldn't wait either. I waited 4 months for the RS and that was a torturous obsession...

Hah my bad, I just glanced at your Canberra location and assumed. No looking at swiss cars won't help us figure out Aus specs

                    • The 3-6mth wait is pretty normal. I got mine in late 2008 as it just happened to be exactly what i wanted but most have had a wait all along. I thought the delay in getting the new model here was to allow stock levels to build up, which it seems it has for some variants but not others. Two dealers in different states are both confused why people on here keep saying there is no stock. There is actually more stock ready to go than I even thought, it's just you all want something that isn't here or that went straight away. As the options are consolidated now I think you will find stock supplies a bit better but remember this car is really only a year old worldwide so it's not just us waiting.

Kind-of normal for Euros unless you can be flexible with spec.

I know of a few Golf R owners that waited 11 months from date of order.

Ford, Toyota & Holden probably have plenty of locally made stock on the ground & if you want something special from an AU based factory the wait is about 6 weeks.

When my wife ordered her Mondeo it was 10 months due to various stuff-ups by the dealer & Ford.

Sometimes these things take a while...you should read some of the stories about how long it took for the Polo GTIs.

In any case remember you are not buying the car then waiting, you are ordering a car then waiting.

Ask those dealers to check stock of the base model, which judging by the adverts is the halo model for Skoda. There's none. I called every dealer in NSW wanting to put a put a deposit on a base model wagon - nothing.

Solitaire Skoda are advertising on Carsales as having some in stock but when you check the details they are for cars not yet built - an act I think is quite deceiving but the Sales Director is seemingly OK with.

The base model is a price leader - it's there to make a price headline.... would anyone really want a Skoda Octavia with hubcaps, no cruise etc? That's why there is not stock. Especially a wagon.

                              • I agree the pricing is structured so most would opt for the ambition plus, and yet again there is still no stock

The base model appeals to me because it doesn't come with the touchscreen stereo.
