New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Hi GTR,

I'm kind of new here but I've been following this thread for many months. I'm hopefully picking up my RS soon as it came off a boat a few weeks ago. My delivery got held up for the aforementioned reason. I was told of that news earlier this week, but a quick Google search shows BB has been in administration since Nov 5. I'd suggest to check with the dealer whether your car has any encumbrance on it by VW (confirmable by a PPSR search, which I was unfamiliar of until now). This was the main issue that delayed my delivery. As far as I understand, they cannot legally sell you the car, whether you ordered it 6 months ago or not, if it is in the financial interest of someone else, especially if it is VW. I *think* VW became the "owners" (not sure if that is the right term)/declared financial interest in all of their stock after BB went into administration. Apparently this issue has cleared up now so hopefully you should be okay, I think my timing was worse as the delivery happened to fall in this bad time for them...

Thanks for the info. Ppsr prob won't work until the car gets complied as it won't be on Australian registers. I'll def be speaking to a lawyer and will probably speak to Skoda direct as well.

Awful news for you, I gather you have been waiting a while? Or were you a lucky one and got one on the way or just into the country? It's a pretty ****ty end to a very ****ty wait. I just want my car, without all this bull**** hassle.

Yeah. As if waiting near 7 months for the car isn't enough, now I've got this crap to deal with. I'll speak personally with the dealer Saturday (assuming they are open) and call Skoda and speak to them and find out what the go is. If vw has frozen the car, I'll talk to a lawyer about how to go about not getting screwed.

Also from reading the forum I see that there is a good wait ahead of me till delivery. Dealer said February but I'm guessing more likely April? Can anyone give me a guesstimate? Also will I likely get a 2014 or a 2015 build week?

unless the dealer has managed to get you a car that already has a build week allocated then I can't see how you could slip into a 2014 production slot.

Dealer is having a lend of you if he thinks an unallocated build will be here in 3.5 months, so yes, your April estimate is more realistic.

Thanks Brad, I suspected as much about delivery. I dealt with Yuqi at Peter Warren Automotive, Warwick Farm, NSW. It took a bit of negotiation but he was polite and was able to offer me what I thought was a good price in the end.

Well I tried to call skoda today, but couldnt be put through. I spoke to someone from VW, who appears to be handling the cases now anyway. Have a case lodged, with an escalation put on it. Apparently car should still be delivered, through dealer, but with a 2-3 week delay.....if thats 2-3 weeks on top of the "normal" delay coming from boat to dealer, that will mean ill JUST get it before xmas.......

They are sending details through now (apparently)......*sigh*. Will go into the dealer tomorrow and confirm what is going to happen, and ask to be given updates on where the car is, and what their expected delivery to me is. Glad I held off on finance, otherwise I would likely have had to re-apply due to delays.....

Well I wondered why the salesman at BB Skoda was so keen to sell me a RS. What's the go for existing stock BB hold, can they sell them as per normal? Or what should a buyer beware of?

Polo GTEye N9...... does it have a flat bottom steering wheel and the vRS Mode button near the gear box? If not then it's one of the first RS's to come to Aus and they'd most likely want to get rid of it due to newer ones!

According to VW, they are trading as normal (i.e. they have administrators appointed, but its not so dire that they have to shut doors straight away, it's more of a cashflow problem) - so you can still buy a car off them. I probably wouldnt order one from them, but if it was in stock, then maybe a good time to snap up a bargain! just make sure the title is clear before handing the money over - that's what i'm doing, but its a slightly different case for me.

Yep, had been waiting around 7 months. I guess I tried to stay patient by thinking that after you've been waiting that long another week isn't going to kill you, as long as you get the car in the end! From what I understand a number of other customers also had this issue but I'm not sure whether this was resolved collectively or individually and whether it would be an issue with newer batches of stock coming in. I tried not to worry too much since my current car isn't a bad one and my rego was good until next year anyway, so I suppose the waiting could be much worse in other circumstances. I would think yours won't get delayed by an additional 2-3 weeks, but hopefully you'll find out soon!

Was a bit harsh to a bloke on whirlpool in the Octavia thread..... Feel bad usually am unbiased about options etc. I'm rarely upset/stressed, but this is the final straw in an unreasonable wait.....

OK, have spoken at length with the dealer, and have assurances that there will be little to no delay with picking car up (day or two at worst over a "normal" pickup). He explained roughly what is going on (essentially, each dealership now has a auditor/person who has to sign everything off from Deloitte to ensure everything is "by the book") and its relatively business as usual. The dealers will be sold off, but until then, keep operating as usual, under an administrator.

So I should get my car, as per original guesstimate - the last week of the month effectively. Makes me feel a lot more relieved, and glad I have some assurances. Apparently Skoda has been assisting due to the exceptionally long wait times on the cars in making sure there are minimal delays.

So, if you're looking at a car in stock you can still buy one, but I personally wouldnt order one there, until its sold to a new owner. Might be able to get a good deal!

Glad to hear you're going to get the car without to much delay GTR.
Just give it a really good check when you pick it up. Our RS estate was missing the bonnet liner and when in sport mode the noise generator rattles at 1800rpm.
It's going back to the dealer next week to get these things fixed
