Was too worried about my car and getting back to work, that i did not ask for any pricing. Although the Wheels and Nexen tyres were $3300.

How much for just the vRS rims? And what size/width are they?

Not to impressed with that to be honest. How could you balls up a release so much?
        They're all pre-production models.

        • Crappiest release!
If just wanted to look- not buy- we have YouTube.
          Am told:
No rural dealers will get the diesel model.
Earliest estimate for a diesel wagon mid-Feb 14.
Even demonstrators are to be kept 60days (min) before sold by dealers.

          Epic fail, Skoda.
          Is aftersales this bad, too?

          • "Is aftersales this bad, too?" Yes, it can be. Some people are happy with after sales support and service. Some are unhappy but persist because they like the car. For others, like me, it was a deal breaker.

If you're not in the brand yet and want to be, my advice is be prepared to seek out a good independent.

As to stock levels, why am I not surprised? VW Aust has never shown a real commitment since re-introducing the brand. They talk big but just won't deliver. Partly because supply can genuinely be hard at times, partly out of fear of cannibalising VW sales as has happened overseas.

It has been interesting to watch the former head of Skoda Oz after moving to Fiat - since the leash was removed he has driven FIat pricing way down and expanded the range to position the brand where it belongs. Got to wonder if he knew what was needed at Skoda all along but was not allowed to do it.

            • Pity Fiats are pretty bad quality. Moving on, they had lots of stock of the Octavia when it first launched. What I had heard along the way this year was that they wanted to build stock levels for a big launch. Clearly that didn't happen. And it looks like the RS for sale end of next year was actually true, yes we may have demos in stock early next year, but noone will be driving their own until the end of 2014.

Aftersales, I've had my quibbles with Richmond but so far they have fixed all issues and made the best they can of situations. They are currently still swamped by the DSG recall across the Audis and Skodas as I suspect many dealers are. My only wish is that Richmond would be more competitive with the servicing costs, they used to be before Zagames. The fixed price servicing might help there though now.

                  • If a car is registered as a demo by the dealer (or the wholesaler) then no stamp duty is paid (a saving) , but the car has to be turned over within a certain time period. It makes sense for the dealer to have use of that car as a demo for as long as possible.

As for "pre production".... those cars are produced before the production line is ramped up. Considering how long the Octavia has been available overseas I hardly think the cars at dealers now are pre-production.

                    • Though I wasn't going to I headed to my Skoda dealer and sat in the Elegance Hatch with sunroof and Combi Elegance without sunroof both has the adaptive cruise sensor on the front grill (radiator) so they had the bonus packages.

Interior wise, I'm in love. Door handles are beautiful (small things like that I'm into) shape of the cars, both have ample boot space and very comfy and well designed interior. I have driven and been in the new Golfs and really dislike the tacky interior. Skoda have done abetter job in "design".

Though the model I'll be waiting for is the vRS Combi. And if people are saying 2015 I can wait.... Though I'd like to buy an ex demo for no more than $45k....

                      • I have also noticed, read and heard that the Octavia's will have the 7spd DSG box. The same one people have issues with in their Golfs? I have the new Polo GTI with the 7spd, no issues but some people do. Will the vRS Octavia come with 6sp due to the torque? What does the new Golf GTI have?

7 speed DSG has been in the non-vRS Octavia for a few years now. vRS will have the 6 speed DSG unless VW pull some amazing techo improvement out of the hat.

The new, normal Golf 7 & Octy's have a dry 7 speed but no one seems to be having problems with them like the old one. vRS will have the same wet 6 speed from the GTI though, so that should be a pretty solid unit.

Both the current GTi & vRS have the same 6-speed dsg (wet). The dsg6 is rated at max 350Nm of torque. Though it can handle much much more.
I believe the mk7 GTi & mk3 vRS will again share the same 6-speed dsg.

                              • Perfect ! Thank you. I have the dry 7spd in my Polo GTI and have had no issues but know others have!

Having that extra gear is great though but rather not have issues after 100,000kms
