wifey uses the car 90% of the time - so i blame her. hehehehe.
or the paint job under ALL 4 door handles on mine was piss poor!!!

clear/protective film would've been a good idea.....prior to getting scratched. It was too late for me and i had to cover them up - so these did the trick

My race blue was like that too (maybe only 50% as bad being a darker colour). My lovely wife was not impressed copping the blame. I reckon its mainly the fingernail/ring combo. I buffed it out before I sold it. Probably better to prevent it though, small square of clear film would do it.

        • so when wifey came back from work yesterday and she tells me there is an orange light tap thingy on.
turns out the engine light is on.

had a look and took the car for a quick spin - it drives fine.

i hooked up the obd2 connector and scan for fault codes using the TorquePro app.
          the following came up:-

Fault log report generated by Torque for Android
          =================================================
          Vehicle VIN: TMBEF61Z5Bxxxxxxx
          Vehicle Manufacturer: Unknown
          Vehicle Calibration ID: 1Z0907115AF 0010ª

          Current Fault Log
          ------------------
P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

          Pending Fault Log
          ------------------
          ECU reports no pending faults

          Historic Fault Log
          ------------------
          ECU reports no historic faults

Other discovered fault codes (possibly pending, current or manufacturer specific)
          ----------------------------------------------------
ECU reports no other fault codes logged End of report.

reading the forums, it doesn't seem to be major concern. i have the following possible solutions:-
          - Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
          - Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115)
          - Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister
          - Check Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body

wondering how long before the lads at the garage can take a look and fix it!?!??!

It will either be the N80 valve or the black canister on the drivers side just near the washer fill opening.

There's a mesh filter that clogs up with black gunk in the canister. I think you can remove and clean the filter (it's incorporated in the hose). You can buy the canister & hose for about $30 posted ex-China

You have the TFSI belt drive engine? N80 valve is just in front of the manifold & around $30 posted ex-China. If it's the TSI it's in a cow of a spot right up under the inlet manifold.

            • well after filling up the tank, from empty to full, and after two quick spins, the engine light is gone!
will keep an eye out to see if it appears again.
              heard it can be intermittent.

brad - i have the tsi, not tfsi.

spotted this in the skoda workshop manual regarding the n80 - more details here.

                        • Had something similar happen on my Tiguan. OK to drive but cost about $1000 to fix as needed to replace the whole intake manifold as the position sensor is an integral part....

                          • so I unprofessionally "touched" a few bits and pieces on the intake manifold, cleared the fault (using torque pro), and so far so good.
                            the fault hasn't reappeared.

will keep an eye on it.

thousand bucks to fix - yikes!!! I hope I don't have to get to that stage!!

                            • So unfortunately I'm going to bite the bullet and get the intake manifold replaced.
while that's happening, have the injectors replaced.

Turns out the flap in the intake manifold is operating between 10 and 90%, open vs close state, instead of the usual 0 - 100%.

It's not causing any more damage, so there is no urgent need to fix.

Instead of costing me $1100 + labor, it will cost me $400 + labor.
Getting genuine replacement parts from ECS Tuning.
Getting the parts from the stealers is ridiculous.

If I'm lucky, the parts arrive from the US soon and I have it fixed before Xmas.

                              • That's quite a difference between stealer vs overseas pricing just for the parts unfortunately... Glad you worked out the issue and fix for it.
