cheers.
the footwell kit cost me $60 all up. it comes with everything (4x footwell lights; 4x footwell connectors; 1x CECM connector; 1x Earth Connector), all pre-wired in the right layout.
its simply plug-&-play.
....just got get the trims/panels out of the way first!!!! grrrrr............
that's where all the "hours" will b eaten up - removing the trim to lay the wiring.
cutting out the holes for the front footwell lights will only take 5 mins.

unfortunately i've been sick all last week & through the weekend, so i didn't get a chance to have a good crack at it.
what i did manage to do was install & wire up the footwells on the drivers side - front driver & rear driver side.
i haven't hooked up the wiring on the passenger side. i do have the footwell lights in the spot, just not wired up.
i'm not happy with the way the drivers footwell lighting is sitting. because i cutout the soft foam, its actually bending, causing the footwell light to sit on an angle.
next time i open it up, i'll c if i can cutout the hard plastic & re-fit it there.
after removing the bonnet lever, i was able to pry open, not remove, the door sill plastic. this enabled me to run the wire down behind the bonnet lever, under the door sill carpet, to the opening flap under the drivers seat. from there i routed the wire under the seat to the footwell location.
installing the power source to pin #50 was much easier than i thought. literally, unplug the white CECM connector & plug the power wire in. it clicks in place nicely. cable tie it with the rest of the wires, and plug the CECM connector back in. the negative wire i grounded to a metal screw holding the dashboard frame.
i got the vcds cable tonight, and did the coding as per the instructions.
central electronics -> long coding -> Byte-12: Tick Bite-5
central electronics -> long coding -> Byte-20: Tick Bite-0
saved the settings and bingo.....let there b light!!
woOot.
i'll eventually need to wire up the passenger side. i had difficulty sending the wire across from the driver's side to the passenger side through the back of the centre console, or behind the radio.
removing those side carpet cover thingys r the sticky point for me now. they not budging despite my best efforts.

alright.....things r looking positive now.
thanks to the Briskoda forum, i removed the top storage compartment, and was able to see a clear path to route the wire across from the drivers side to the passenger side.
i didn't attempt to do any wiring - was just having a looksie.
so its all systems r go for the weekend.
i just hope the wiring is long enough.

so i've finally finished wiring it all up - front & rears.
thanks to all ur help - definitely made my task easier.
for those buying the footwell lighting kit from boldsport, the wiring (routed via the door sill covers) is not of enough length from the front to the rear footwell. i had to cut & extend the wiring by another 30-40cms, to fit comfortable.
i got myself some plastic tubing and covered up the wires so it looks OEM.
i also cut a hole into the hard plastic for the front driver's side footwell. now it sits flat & feels sturdy.
u can see the original hole i had cutout for the footwell lighting. the soft foam was bending in an unfavorable angle. so i cut into the hard plastic.

my latest addition - paddle shift extensions.
i couldn't justify spending $300 on st2p paddles (audi), or just as much on TID ones.
so i finally found these paddle shifter extensions for audi, at price i can justify - $45 delivered.
haven't driven with it yet, as i just put it on. gotta leave it on overnight to ensure proper contact.
happy with the fit and finish. hope it lasts.........
I am certainly looking forward to your verdict on these. I can't justify spending mega bucks on the S2P paddles, but for $45 I hope A) they fit and B) they work!
But I am worried that these will not leave enough gap between the paddle and the stalks set behind as they simply stick on to the back adding bulk, rather than replace the existing paddle as with S2P.

Candy White MY12.5 Octavia VRS TSI DSG wagon.
Black Plasti Dipped wheels, grille surround, roof rails and badges. Lowered 20mm, torque arm insert.
It looks a lot worse than it actually is - I've been driving with the ECS version for months now and not a single instance where they were in the way. Your fingers should never be in-between the wheel rim and in front of the paddle shifters anyway.

Well they definitely fit like a glove, but I can't comment yet on the practicality of it as I haven't driven with it yet.
My hands r usually sitting higher (above the stalks) so it shouldn't b a problem with regards to space/clearance.

So I went for a drive to get a feel of the paddle extensions - in summary I'm glad I only paid $45 for them!
Basically pressing the tips don't trigger the shift. There is flex, however not from the extensions, but from the original shifter itself. There is little give/flex on the shifter itself, and so putting the extensions only amplify the flex at the tips.
They respond up to half way up the extensions. Tips r useless.
At least it looks good
Guess the best solution would b to go with a proper replacement like the st2p paddles.
