I've just got the service book out of the car which I put in their especially for it's $440 Rick Damilian stamp. They didn't even remember to do that. I called them and they said they will stamp it next time but I'm not of a mind to give them a next time.

Hi Folks,
Been following this thread for a few days now, hoping to have a resolution to my latest Warranty issue prior to posting... however its still pending
Purchased my Silver Octavia 118tsi wagon in October last year and on the afternoon I collected in from the dealer straight away developed problems. Oil pressure warnings, took the car back to the dealer straight away and it took 7 days for the workshop and Skoda Technical to troubleshoot the error messages and finally replace the oil pump. A pretty dissapointing start to my new car journey. Dealership gave me a used car off the lot for the 7 days mine was off the road
6 months and 8500k's on, the DSG is now causing dramas. Bout 2 weeks ago was driving home from Sydney back to the coast on the F3 when the car slipped from 7th gear into Neutural for about 10-20secs and then resumed like nothing had happened. Did same thing twice before the end of the weekend. Booked it into the workshop on the monday, took dealer until the following tuesday to get the car in. After multiple calls to the dealership & to Skoda Australia customer service (on recommendation from the dealership) the dealership eventually supplied me with another (even older) car from the used car lot for the day. No dramas only needed to buzz around the coast for a day.
They couldn't work out what was wrong with it, Skoda Technical advised to reset the clutches & upgrade the software. Car was fine for a day or two, and then started slipping again. Another call to the workshop again and Technical have advised them to replace the Mechatronic unit, I was advised that the part was being searched for and no ETA of repair date.
Following day and once again on the F3 (must be cursed cause it was around the same area as the initial oil pump failure) driving in heavy rain with Pregnant wifey on board and starts to slip again, now feeling very unsafe. Limped it back to the dealer on saturday morning, who advised they had no replacement car for me, went across the road to Avis and am now incurring $95 a day hire car cost whilst the car is still in the workshop.
Latest advice is that the part should arrive tomorrow morning and I may actually see my car before the weekend, otherwise its going to be a long and expensive long weekend as neither dealer or Skoda Aus are keen on footing the bill for my hire car while I'm waiting on them to get there act together and find and install the part. Skoda Aus actually advised me previously that they should be able to cover hire car costs if the issue was diagnosed and I had to wait parts or repair however are now denying the whole thing and leaving me out in the cold. Fantastic company to deal with.
Cheers

Agreed that either the dealer should provide you an equivalent loan car (not some 1995 Honda Civic for example) or Skoda foots the bill for your hire car, that's perfectly reasonable given the defect in their product under warranty... if Skoda (otherwise known as VAG Aus) are not willing to do this, surely, despite being perfectly happy [so far] with my RS, I must question just how I would be treated should issues arise with my car??? No loan car from the dealer and no offer by Skoda to provide the reasonable cost of a small hire car during the time my car is off the road awaiting repair is nothing short of pathetic... and this from a brand trying to grow and win friends in this country??

Well glad to see I win something...
Currently sitting at the dealer, part was shipped to Newcastle instead of gosford, another 5 or 6 days without my car.
Am now waiting on a call from the skoda area manager to see if they will cover my weekend car hire, will see how this plays out

Man if they don't cover the cost of your hire car for this BS, well that's just low, it would make me question buying a VAG product again if this is how customers who purchase their vehicles are left in the lurch and out of pocket when it comes to a fault under warranty.

To AndyW. You should be keeping detailed records of all your communications with the dealer and Skoda about this vehicle. Whenever you talk to somebody make a note of the conversation including their name and the time you spoke to them. If possible follow up with an email to them confirming your understanding of what was said. That way if you are wrong they will have to come back to you and tell you that you are. Stay calm and reasonable in your dealings regardless of the provocation or idiocy displayed by others. If this thing goes totally pear shaped the more information that you have in writing including detailed notes made in a diary or similar the better.

Agree with you Kiwi that there's no obligation on Skoda to provide a loan car or cover cost of hire car, but as you say, from a PR perspective jeez, how many people may not buy a Skoda after reading this, or hearing AndyW's fantastic word-of-mouth experience first hand (eg his friends, work colleagues, family etc).... all coz Skoda won't cough up, what, $500 to cover a hire car?? Surely given the issues with his car Skoda should say ok, this is not just a faulty door trim, this is a car off the road for a couple weeks, and as you rightly point out, we ain't talking a TV here, this is a $35k vehicle and involves a fair amount of inconvenience to the consumer.
Good advice on the note-taking too.
