That's crap and it's nothing to do with them anyway it's a Skoda Australia problem. If they had even one once of interest in customer service they would have referred the issue to Skoda.
My advice. Go to a dealer who is interested in supporting their customers.

First issue - Tow bar control unit - was faulty from the first time i used the RS to tow a trailer and also the ECU hadn't been re-coded ( nil canceling of the reverse sensors when a trailer is fitted) , got screwed around with the guys at Steve Jarvin ( where I bought it from ) but decided they were going to replace it because it was stuffed. Before they got the part in they were forfeiting their franchise so I took it to the Newcastle service centre ( Audi Newcastle), they checked it out, control unit was fine, was a blown fuse and that the control unit was a south american model. Also they re-coded the ECU and all was fine except for a blown bulb function due to the S/American model working slightly different. New Control unit fitted now. All done under warranty

Issue 2 - Roof lining where it meets the windscreen was not seated correctly ( seemed to be too short ), was refitted but still not correct so a complete new roof lining was ordered and refitted - all good - all done under warranty.

Issue 3 - Drivers seat mesh was pilling, seat cover was replaced, not under warranty but under good will through Audi Newcastle/Skoda Oz - was very happy with that outcome, considering I did find out that the wife had been wearing pants with velcro tabs on her rear pockets - I found that after getting the seat cover changed, I felt a little naughty getting it repaired for nothing when i found out

Issue 4 - Front bumper/spoiler paint had bubbled and started to lift in the very corners of front number plate recess - has been inspected and will be repaired/resprayed when i take it in for it's 30,000km service later this month. Again will be done under warranty.

Considering I didn't buy my car from Newcastle Skoda, the service centre has been brilliant - they jump on the phone to Skoda Oz with no hesitation and always work on a best solution for all ( so far that has all been in my favour ). They're even very clued up on good set up for the Skoda's - I had my wheels re-aligned after a little sawtoothing on the rear wheels, they did a very acurate job & set it up so it doesn't effect camber so much when loaded up, but not so much that it effects unloaded driving - so far the tyres have worn very even since the alignment. They even are keen to have a chat about other set ups with suspension and possible engine "tweaks" I've been considering.

All in all, nothing major, just a couple of annoying faults but were quickly addressed and looked after under warranty etc. Am very happy with the car & the after sales service from Audi Newcastle - Skoda S/centre!!

My RS wagon is 7 weeks/4,000km old now, and only a couple of minor annoyances.

When the car was about 2 weeks old I found a screw on the front passenger floor, which no doubt came out from under the dash somewhere. It's since developed a nasty squeaking noise coming from around the glove box area. I think it's the glovebox base. Haven't really had time to investigate where the screw came from, and Richmond Skoda have said to bring it in and they'll look at it.

When using the aux jack in the console with my ipod, a couple of times I've selected 'media' on the head unit and it hasn't recognised the ipod. And on one occassion when I selected media it just permanently displayed "starting system" and nothing actually started.

Also when I turn the car off, the MFD displays a warning saying "check safety locking" or something like that (can't remember exact words). I haven't gotten around to reading the manual to see what this means. It's done it since new, maybe it's normal?

And I've noticed that sometimes the rear cargo screen seems to rattle a bit. It's intermittent, and if I retract it and slide it out again it'll often stop rattling.

But otherwise I'm very happy with the car.
now: 2008 Octavia RS TSI manual sedan, yellow, Stage 1 tune, 185kw.
before: MY11 RS TSI manual wagon, race blue, sunroof, tint, MDI

Wow - a few problems around. We have an RS wagon with 16000ks and no broken bits (touch wood).

I had the back wiper fall off (it just slides in, but it looks like its broken so I left it off and asked them to look at it at service) - I might add that NMG tried to charge me $30 to replace it at the service. $30 for 10 seconds of time seems a bit steep and no one asked me so I cracked it and he knocked it off the bill as requested. Many service centers try to charge you for replacing wiper blades these days - highway robbery.

Also had a squeak around the the A-Pillar near the dashboard. Nothing a bit of spray lube couldn't fix.

Make sure that the cable is fully inserted into the jack

I suspect that's a set up issue with the MFD. Just go into the MFD options and look at the door lock settings.

Mk6 Golfs also come with this "feature".

How do you manage to get warranty done at an Audi dealer?

I wanted my N75 issue looked at by a conveniently located, local VW/Audi dealership & Skoda said tough luck - have a day off work & attend a Skoda dealer. Unless I get another dealer able to do warranty that is convenient to work (Campbelltown, NSW) then I doubt I'll buy another Skoda.

It might be like Richmond in Melbourne, they are a combined Audi/Skoda dealership so they service both makes.

Got mine via a novated lease and the lease coy said that any "registered" mechanic could service the vehicle.

Brad - As Kiwi said, the Newcastle Audie Service Centre looks after both Audi & Skoda with regards to servicing ( although separate show rooms) , and these guys know their stuff. I rate these guys - They give me a courtesy car free of charge ( another Skoda ) for the day, they text me the day before reminding me of any bookings I've made. They call me as soon as any warranty parts or parts I've ordered have come in to make a booking to fit them. Their customer service is spot on in my books.

That's the legal position regarding warranty coverage but that does not mean that an individual workshop has to service the vehicle if they don't want to and many Audi/VW workshops won't service Skodas.

After having to get the drivers door reattached in the correct spot, have the harmonic balancer and drive belts replaced and the generally piss poor interior/panel quality of my 8,500km old VE2 SSV I was thinking of getting an Octavia instead, hoping the quality issues wouldn't exist. This thread makes me sad lol. My Holden dealer has been surprisingly good, though. Which is... surprising...

The RS I test drove earlier this year had a fluttering sound from the passengers side AC vent. Sorta as if there was some paper stuck in a fan.

Well I hope this thread doesn't deter prospective buyers away from the Octavia's. We've had our RS for 4 months now and done 9,000kms - not a single problem at all. Runs absolutely fantastic.

Used to own a BF XR6T and the quality is such a huge difference...get a Octavia SSVR and you won't be disappointed

Sixteen months, 32,000km and no issues - unless you count the small nail in the OSR tyre.
