Been mod shopping lately and have myself a CTS intake and downpipe (with O2 spacer) and Eibach Sportline springs on their way. Also enquiring about a custom exhaust - strangely the downpipe added no addition sound!?

I'm undecided on which tune to go with as they all differ in price and power outputs. APR seem to be squeezing out more Kw's and Nm's than other options like Revo and Spectune but is also the most expensive. Spectune seems to be more of a custom tune as the reflash is based off of your own stock map rather than an "of the shelf" or "one size fits all" approach.

    Decisions, decisions....
GIAC Stage 2, CTS downpipe. Haven't dynoed but feels very close to my brothers K04 GTI which was 220wkw. Traction is an issue if fully planted off the line but i can sometimes get a good hookup depending on the road conditions. Will be looking at a Milltek catback and coilovers in the future plus superpro LCAs. I wouldn't look just at the final numbers, it's all about how its spread across the rev range. Can't go wrong with either choice. Would be interested in how you go with the custom exhaust. My downpipe certainly gave it a bit more growl.

i'm not sure what the gen3 ea888 engines r like, but i'd imagine they are just as brutal, if not more!!
Yep. They certainly hustle along. I'm just not a fan of how hot the engines get with regular driving. Need to look into an oil-cooler.

    • So what's the go for tyres now? I was looking at the Michelin pilot super sports as the next set as the Bridgestone soo1 aren't quite cutting the mustard imo.

      • PS3s or Goodyear AS2

        • As above. PSS are great but possibly not available in the size you need. I'd also consider going to 235 rather than 225.

You think that's okay on the standard 18 inch rim?

            • 18x7.5 ET51?

correct range rim for a 235/40r18 is 8-9.5" but I would do it anyway.

He didn't say if he was running 17s or 18s. Moot point as I don't think PSS come in 235/45r17 (which fit 7.5"-9"

Ive disabled my soundaktor so noise is probably on par with it enabled in sport mode if not quieter. I'll see what i can get on my dashcam. Otherwise I'll hookup my gopro. You'll probably get more road noise coming through the cabin then actual engine noise but i'll try something

                      • Bought these 'go-faster' strips. Nice and subtle I think. Really like them

                        • Hello lads. I treated myself recently and bought a MY12 Octavia RS TDI to accompany my VW R36. Must say they look pretty good together!

Without creating a new thread as there are enough on here already, i just wanted to get some thoughts on what the best tuning options I have for the diesel RS. I've done a bit of digging around and noticed that with the TDI for the Bluefin the ECU has to be removed? Also seen (though the posts are quite old) that APR and GIAC don't do TDI's? Is that still the case?

If anyone has any advice or could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

                          Cheers
                          Sanchez

                          • You are correct APR doesn't do diesels.

                            In Melbourne try DNA

You might also look at a DTUK tuning box - they get some great revues.

                            • Yes it's a bench tune in those ecus as they are encrypted. Revo and Ottinger as well as a few others do a tune for them.

                              • Thanks lads. Good starting point

@Kamold.. I've seen your name thrown around here for a few years now, nice taste in cars!

Do you recommend the Revo Stage 1? Volkstech is now an official dealer for them and they are around the corner from my place in Melbourne. Keen to hear what your thoughts are on it if you have a chance

                                Thanks
